Hey guys! I'm back in Serous Kopitiam again.

This time I would like to get some recommendations for a washing machine as I'm planning to purchase a new washing machine.

My criteria is without dryer, reliable and priced below RM2,000.00.

Currently looking at Midea's but I'm not sure whether it is a good reliable machine.

Hope all sifus and washing machine owners can come and give some recommendations. notworthy.gif

You want good and reliable, get LG front load washing machine.
There is a specific washing machine thread also, search for it.

I bought 2 Midea. One 7.5 kg another 10.5kg. 7.5kg already broken after 3-4 years used, this one I put at my homestay. The 9.5kg one, bought in 2019 have problem will belt within 2-3 month use. Midea technician came and changed the belting (FOC - under warranty). Now no major problem but sometimes it not spin properly.

Previously I used LG 7.5kg washing machine for almost 10 years. After 8-7 years, got problem with it water pump (don't know what it call). After change it, another 2 years it got problem with belting. Cost a few hundred to change so I bought Midea one. Although it only 7.5kg but the capacity is like my current Midea 9.5kg.

So, if you have the budget, go to other brand, not Midea. I bought it last time because when my LG kong, ad hoc need to buy new one. So I get the cheap Midea.

Budget RM 2k and still list Midea? nuuuuuuuuuuu

Midea is for budget-friendly single bachelor (heh) like students that will get rid of the machine in 3 years. It's not like they broke down fast, but they 'age' pretty fast. Like after using a few months you already notice it's making noises/feeling not new etc.

I think you won't go wrong with whatever brand the others advises as long as not it's Midea.

I personally like Panasonic. The previous machine was 8 years before I donate it because I want to upgrade. The new one is only 2 years so far, but still performing like 100% new (obviously just 2 years, any reputable washing machine should perform 100% like new I think).

Panasonic 11KG RM 1.6k

It is silent, the motor is very powerful like a tornado, Wide tub opening instead of a deep tub, foams up your detergent more (because a powerful motor that agitates water more + water blast thingy i dont know how to explain). But note that all these description probably can also be found in other reputable brand too. Just giving you some insight to what I like tongue.gif

See how it wash - and that's why water is very foamy because agitation+ many waterfall xP. Not the same model, but want to show the washing cycle which is identical.

I like this model, the place I'm staying have a similar older model same capacity, the 60 C wash feature very good for washing robotvac mop pads and kitchen towels. Also cleans stain very well when use the stainmaster function.

Only thing different is noisy since it's non-inverter model (can hear the belt and stuff when washing etc).

LG washer is highly regarded worldwide

Samsung can accomodate high suds better, just don't overdose
Panasonic and Toshiba has good aftersales (parts) supply, and tahan

I've used Zanussi, Indesit both made in EU and they last for 15~20 years.
Zanussi replaced due to seal leak.

Indesit put outdoors under sun and stray cats... body rust like sh*t and still works. Door auto lock spoiled last year so it is now bypassed. The auto lock use thermal switch (heat up to lock) so after hundreds of lock-unlock will sure die.

Inverter DD are no belt. Modern washers more electronic, would be wise to invest in surge protector.

If want lasting, get good quality washers with mechanical mode selector type.

big washers have 'suspension' issues after few years, those 'shock absorbers' need to change, no joke

majority of the weight is built-in concrete blocks to hold the whole thing down, while the drum spins. I'd say easily 70~80% of a washers weight, is concrete.

Last time, I recall, LG service got counter fee, means need to pay an amount before carrying out any repairs. Parts are $$$.
Samsung, Pana, Toshiba macam don't have, they sub it out to certified company or technician do on site inspections.

I guess depends on luck.

Electrolux for me just average with a bit premium price. Control board kaput twice. Motor brush wear (well this is consumable). Blower turbine stuck (Wash/Dry combo). Lastly ... forgot. Got it replace with Panasonic.

Panasonic door latch broken. Spare part from Panasonic several hundreds because complete set. Managed to find used replacement (however look like as good as new) for RM60 laugh.gif After that no more problem. Probably used as long as Electrolux above.

Got older one, Bosch. Control board faulty once due to very strong lightning. Gave it to sister in law. Still running fine for no less than 20 years. It was small to my requirement at later stage of life because it is only 5kg.

All my machines are front loader.

Use many before, Bosch / Electrolux / Samsung / LG / Panasonic / Midea / Sharp

My take, go with LG anytime.

Those repairman that complain about LG / Samsung expensive repair, you know why? 'Cos LG and Samsung control their repair channel. Not everyone authorized to repair them.

Those unauthorized one can't get spare parts through formal channel, thus telling consumer don't get LG or Samsung.

I repaired all of them (Yes! All will break down at some point) before. It's all around the same cost.

The worst service is Electrolux and Elba. Just belt snap, they bring my whole machine back to factory, and "extort" with high repair price or buy a new one from them.. when I don't have my machine anymore.

Samsung and LG, just call their customer support. Even 10+ years old machine never an issue with parts and service.

Even 9kg is more than enough for family of 4.

People always think small capacity is not enough because they keep their laundry for few days before washing them. If you wash your clothes daily, then small capacity is not a problem.

I wondered why Toshiba. The company is going through hard years lately with huge losses. The Toshiba Home Appliances Group is now 80% owned by Midea. The TV one now owned by Hisense 95%. I think the brand will stay there.

Sadly many people still choose top load, because they got back pain etc, old guys unable to squat down without pain etc.

And funny part?
Get a top load with a quiet door that close itself slowly, but because of not used to it, the resistant of door is broken just by 1 month lol. tongue.gif
And lucky I was there when the installation happen, so got asking about do the balancing, else gonna broken again because of unbalance.
(yaya, yelling asking for the balancing, my parents just yelling back to me and said it no need balance one, lucky the old installer say want one... sweat.gif )
---
Just wondering, did front load got the filter?

I found out many young people don't care about the plastic filter, either get it dirty or damaged, aiyo... notworthy.gif

Yes, I also prefer top load, the strong kick is what's I want lol.
Lowest level water, the best hit.
If wanna let it lighter/soft to certain clothes, I just put inside the wash bag, done.

But what I don't understand is people who prefer light/soft hit on the clothes, buy top load, then put all the 8 KG clothes into single wash bag, making the silent type wash machine unbalance and making noise hitting wall damaging it lol.
If split into multiple bag and let it able to balancing it while soft the hit, I know la, but single bag... sweat.gif

Yes, people who don't know how to use a wash machine is the headache, not the type of top or front load. tongue.gif

When using a top loading washing machine..

Filling it up with clothes up to the brim (full load), is ok.... if the clothes are dry..

Sometimes i do pre-soak my white clothings with detergent and bleach .... before washing them in the machine..

The other day I loaded my pre-soaked clothes (quite heavy) with some dry ones to wash...

I put up to 3/4 loading only.... and it was overweight..

My washing machine spoilt 😭😭

The drum "dropped ".

I removed all the clothes...."pulled up the drum" ..

Tried to wash half of the load.... it worked... but spinning very weak....

I didn't bother to repair it.... afterall I've been using it for 15 years already.... it was a Fisher and Paykel.

Bought a new washing machine....
Front loading one. Bosch. 👍👍
It is so quiet.... love it..

Just like car, will spoil 1 day, those plastic and rubber band not last very long.
So far me faced are careless type lol, like coins suck on output causing water leak, the door using magnet field to detect door closing but bang of door causing it losing magnet, or the water load detector broken because of too electric solution instead of traditional solution lol.

Yes, the front load should be no need extra care about overweight/unbalance lol, but still, careless people still useless la.

Still waiting new type incoming, support detergent split into 3, have better cleaning solution because prevent reaction or oxidation.
But nah, 10 more years la. laugh.gif

Checked news, so far only support auto control on how many detergent should be put based on amount of clothes lol. tongue.gif

Compare of detergent.

Found the word, enzymes, this one important for cleaning effect la. thumbsup.gif

Long ago, I used a front loading one. Used to leave the door opened after use, to let it dry.
One day I found the door latch broken ... had to lift it up to close properly.

After that, I changed to top loading one. Now back to front loading lol.

Both types also ok to me, got pros and cons.

My new Bosch, has that I-DOS feature. Meaning it'll dispense the proper dosage of detergent to use. No worry of putting too much or too little.... not sure effective or not la.... but I think I can turn off that feature if not necessary.

Whatever machines also need to take care...I always empty all pants pockets, zipped up the pants, some clothes need to turn inside out before throwing them in the washing machine.

I also separate the colours... blacks in one load, whites to be washed another round, etc. All the bright orange and reds in another. Haha.

Yes, careless people is the reason.
Even you teach them how to use, it is mostly useless as they don't hear you said what....

Broken just buy new one ma, they rich. sweat.gif

For color, easy.
New clothes normally will wash first, if no color drop then put it together next time la. tongue.gif

Don't think nowadays clothes still drop color easily, but yes still can't rule it out la. laugh.gif
