Just gotten operation and discharged fortunately. No much complications during surgery However, upon reaching home with my files taken. I found blood test inside and have a look. Can you guys justify this glucose reading? I’m not expert not really how to judge it tho As long it’s within the bracket, I’ assume it’s fine?

Spot on, as long as within the range in brackets on the right, you are good.

All reports normally has reference range in brackets on the right of measured reading.
So yours is in range. Means OK.

It seems like the HB1ac test, which doesn't require fasting and is more reliable/accurate than the finger-prick test.

QUOTE(Zot @ Nov 29 2022, 03:42 PM) And more expensive test too. Cost less than RM 50 for this along with other tests for your kidney/liver at the right clinics.

hi im a dr ur blood sugar level is perfectly fine if u are a non diabetic, generally for random blood glucose our aim is < 7.8 mmol/L, if fasted < 5.6 mmol/L As someone have mentioned above, hba1c is a better indicator of ur control of blood sugar as it reflects ur blood sugar level over the past 3 months as opposed the one that u took, which is just a one time reading. however do note that certain medications can affects ur sugar level.

Did one free test the other day , suppose to fast after 12midnight but too hungry went for supper ( eat tosai only , settle before 1am ) then did the blood test at 10pm. Test came out 5.9 say I'm prediabetic ..... Other thing all good. Did I kinda mess up the test or I'm betul betul prediabetic ?

If u have not taken anything in the past 8h we will take it as fasting blood sugar, and the normal value is < 5.6 mmol/L, in ur case urs was 5.9mmol/L According to our malaysian clinical practice guidelines, fasting blood sugar of 6.1 - 6.9 mmol/L are labeled as prediabetic, >7 is diabetic so i wouldnt label u as prediabetic yet
