usually ppl go for short trip to buy thai stuff, eat, massage etc.

Hatyai as far as I can remember was a trading post. So it's a place for makan, buy stuff like consumables, get stuff if you plan to travel further, mischievous rendezvous to get your rocks off. My family never did much there. Usually will go to Trang or Krabi for more activities

i was there for 2 days, felt kinda bored.

Only thing special was the food. Thats all.

We can get Thai Massage here in Msia too.

Even the Thai travel agent told me there is nothing special in Hatyai.

go hatyai makan la. sight seeing go songkhla or phattalung. If wanna pray go nakhon si thamarat.

A very cheap Malaysian town

I went to H&M hatyai and the prices is so much cheaper compared to here.

I bought a few shirts, costs only 120 baht,so much cheaper than h&m Malaysia.

Almost everything there is cheaper than here
Fast food menu like KFC and Texas chicken there are crazy
Kfc can refill drinks

do you really need to drive in thailand? it might be a lot easier and less hassle and safer to book a driver from danok.
car can leave at the free trade zone parking area.

I am considering this option too.

If I don't venture far from the hotel, hiring Grab may be a better idea.

Why need to change money in hatyai?

well, from my experience for kastam, gonna talk a bit long about it,

if u drive in by urself, u going to prepare

1. Passport
2. Garan original + owner/owner letter and chop by balai polis

when u reach kastam,

1. fill in the white card (like the one on airpork) and chop your passpork. after chop, they will left 1 small pc for u. this you have to return when u go back to malaysia. return to thai kastam.
2. car insurance is recommended, u can do before the kastam u will see a lot on road side.
3. car will have 2 form. 1 is to declare things like passengers, driver(s), owner, etc. this u have to bring to chop passpork and the declaration together.
4. another car form is Kastam Declaration Form or something like that. This is very important and u cannot lose it. YOU NEED TO RETURN TO KASTAM THAI WHEN U GO BACK TO MALAYSIA.

if u fail to do so, your car will be blacklisted. will kena denda THB 10k on your next trip.
