I dont think it's pirated. The total price is around RM2300. Seems like a good deal. If you are at Australia should definitely get it. The only thing about getting a unmodded PAL console is going to be a bit hard to find games here. Most of it is NTSC. Wii has a region lock.

Been keeping an eye on the items on Ebay.
They are all in the format, NTSC (US, Canada).

I checked my TV, and it's in PAL but can switch to NTSC3.58/4.43.
Is that okay?
I will also be getting a FreeLoader later, since it's in NTSC and most of the games here are PAL version.
(Anyone using FeeLoader? Is it safe?)

I have never touched a Wii before, one last question to make me feel better deciding, is it really that FUN? I personally like the shooting game, will it be shooting out of range and not accurate like the old MicroGenius shooting duck game?
Hope you know what I mean.

Thanks. wink.gif

I have a PAL console cause i was studying in Melbourne and I must say the Freeloader works fine. Games in msia actually costs cheaper than in aussie....

But of course the drawback is that its troublesome if u have too many games that needs freeloader. Secondly, you will have no idea if future firmwares will block this program. Having said that, Nintendo's updates so far has not been mandatory and do not add much to the Wii so its safe if u don't update. Also, Datel (the company that released freeloader) will probably release newer versions of the product (which you have to buy) if that happens to counter the new firmware.

So all in all, Freeloader works now. Weigh the pros and cons and decide yourself.

Pros:
-It works!
-Safer than modding
-Cheap (Freeloader + US game = AUS game)

Cons:
-A bit troublesome
-May be blocked in the future

Answering your other question, Wii IS fun. Provided you buy the AAA games and not all the crap games that companies are releasing to take advantage of the Wii's success. So do your research first.

Secondly, its more fun with more ppl. I invested in 4 controllers and the fun factor really pays off because every Friday night my friends come over to have a good time.

About shooting games.....there aren't that many out there but i heard that House of the Dead 2 & 3 have near flawless aiming system.

Hope that helps

Added on April 13, 2008, 3:15 pmOn another note, does anyone know if online works in Malaysia? If yes what region do you set to? I'm sure there are no servers in Malaysia.....

Thanks for the reply, really clear my mind alot. biggrin.gif
Interested in Resident Evil and some Army Game.
Yea, I will have my friends to play with me here, as I will look dumb playing alone waving the stick. Haha.

The Wii can actually support more than 2 players?
4 players on Mario Kart no problem?

Where did you get the Freeloader? Do you think game shops sell them? Or I must get from Play-Asia?
So NTSC (US, Canada) Freeloader for NTSC Format Wii is the one I should get?
Or I get NTSC Freeloader for NTSC Game, and PAL Freeloader for PAL Game?
Dumb question, but just to make sure.

Update:
The seller send me a message saying,
"The consoles has already got Freeloader chip built-in."
Is that possible?

Hi to all the Wii sifu...

I'm planning to buy a Wii...
I have a few questions to ask;

1. Where to buy? looking for fair price and honest shop

2. Which to buy? moded or unmoded

3. Must know for buying a Wii

I've read a pages from the wii thread, frankly i'm still a bit confused most probably because i'm outdated. laugh.gif

Wanted to buy a few games, maybe some accesories like gun or steering wheel at one shot so would appreciate it if sifu can point me the right direction. Thank You! thumbup.gif

I only one thing to say if you want modded console. You have to be sure on what modchip they are using. Like the wiikey or D2c. There are many clones out in the market and the clones dont work that well. So, do some research before buying a modded console.

I think that's the price that has been floating around for quite some time. Do more price checks with some retailers, or you can even try checking the Garage Sales.

Did you ask them what kinda of package they were offering?

If could be an extra game, or a pair of Wiimote and Nunchucks.

But RM1599 I would say that's kinda steep.

Yes, the standard US moded set, no extra nunchucks or wiimote, just a additional step down adapter. = RM1599
Official set at Best Denki or Jusco or Tecasia (standard package) also with RM1699.00

@ shinjin: Well, maybe with that price they're offering a longer warranty.

@ interferens: Wiimote's about be about less than RM150.. Maybe RM130, plus minus. Can get it at most game retailers, or even here in LYN's Garage Sale.

Check with the game retailers like Djinn, SCE, and etc. etc.

Have not bought one, cause mine works fine.
