I got a number of friends in both MY and SG that got laid off. Whilst they were in tech companies, they weren't in tech roles.

Most of the lay off is because big tech over hired during pandemic thinking that digitalization will continue and accelerate, but that is not the case.

Net Net headcount is still more than post pandemic , MSFT is an example, and I believe Google is the same as well
