I want to buy new notebook, please advise which is better, Dell Latitude or Lenovo T14
Budget RM 5k plus max
Onsite support must be good, my last notebook now in SC less than 2 years. Don't know how long will be in SC while my last dell similar problem settled on the spot for me.
Light weight less than 1.5kg cause need to do sales and walk a lot door to door.
Why Lowyat garage all dell saja no Lenovo?
Thanks

Dell great after service, premium support worth to invest on.

Lenovo after service is terrible. Takes so long and give back my yoga laptop with a lot of scratches. Also after few years, yoga Lenovo casing becomes disintegrate / fall apart, can’t find anyone to replace. Lenovo parts difficult to find, after service is non existent.

Meanwhile my dell Vostro hinge was broken, Dell technician come to my house and fix in few days. No problem with parts.

Dell - easy install when formatted windows and bios working
Lenovo - bit difficult because keyboards and boost device not working in bios sometimes

speaking for support, dell. Personally I like T14s/X13 but outlet and online seems 2 different entities, you like certain model need buy online.
Thinkpad parts easy to get online, if you buy used laptop this is better

Not logical to ask which brand

better put which specific model you are targeting.

I over see >200 Dell & Lenovo laptops, service level is same in my experience.

Most of the non commercial laptops does not have lan port. Because the laptop is too thin. Some gives USB to lan adapter. But most does not. So need to spend another RM60 or more for a Gigabit USB Type C lan adapter.

Commercial laptops does have better build quality. The flex test is one of the few things that shows it. Many ports options and availability is another. And commercial laptops usually come with Windows Pro instead of Home. Light or not depends on how much you are willing to pay for it. Thinkpad lightest solid offering are the X1 series. Cost a bomb. For DELL it is the XPS series.

Follow Apple. Laptops no longer serviceable to maximize profits.

If u can keep using and upgrade your existing laptops, manufacturers will lose money from there.

That's why I never bother to upgrade any of my laptops. I still have the good old X61T, X230, E440 for work and E6540, M6700 for entertainment.

For portable entertainment, I have the E7240. All bought as junk or parts only and I restored them back.

HP no longer have walk in service anymore. I have visited their service center from Old Town to Semantan when the place was called HP towers. The company is not into repair business. They will charge kaw kaw for repairs. Or give you 20-30% discount vouchers to buy their replacement products at authorized sellers. Also do understand that big corporations like this does not stock spare parts. Its better to get it worked on by 3rd party after warranty is over.

there is difference between premium and normal laptops.
lenovo yoga slim 7 build is solid. better than ideapad 5 pro. although both of them are aluminium build, ideapad 5 flex is same as plastic build. yoga is the sturdiest build i own currently. tested keyboard deck and lid flex. onsite warranty service is good in penang island. not sure for other states.

still havent own a ThinkPad before. hope to try it out 1 day.

Asalkan bukan Lenovo.
So far, I like Dell especially their warranty support.
One person, meat, another person's poison.
When Lenovo was still IBM, warranty is still good.
After fully become Lenovo, warranty went down south.
Ini tak boleh claim, itu tak boleh claim, sbb tak beli insurance.
Macam2 alasan diberi.
Tak pernah pun berlaku dengan Dell.
If you don't want headache, perhaps Dell. Asus to me is ok.

"The Dell Latitude 5440 and Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 4 are both 14-inch business-class laptops with common features and similar performance options.
The ThinkPad T14 Gen 4 offers a more durable design, with military-grade testing and a reputation for toughness, while the Latitude 5440 is more portable and lighter.
The ThinkPad T14 Gen 4 wins in terms of display, with more options including an OLED display with a higher resolution and 90Hz refresh rate, making it better for productivity and multimedia use."
