Update on 1080i users?

My PS3 is getting absolutely NO LOVE from me, and I was wondering if anyone had heard anything new (rumors or real) regarding an update for the dreaded 1080i woes? Just curious. Hate having a $500 "piece of art" in my equipment rack!

is the TS talking about the games not being played on 1080i instead back to SD version?? (older LCD have no 720p...so the PS3 displays it in SD)
