answer is NO laugh.gif

you can know by checking App Store for that App
for example, Disney+ Hotstar, Compatibility in App Store mentioned Apple TV, which means can install on tvOS
whereas Astro on the Go, not mention Apple TV in Compatibility

is not Apple not allow, is the Astro developer does not allow us to install in tvOS i guess

Actually if you own the 2021 AppleTV 4K like me, there is no reason to upgrade as everything still works. Here are some reasons:

The cheapest 2022 AppleTV model do not have an Ethernet or Thread support.

The new 2022 AppleTV no longer have a fan, it becomes thinner and lighter as well. This is not a really good thing if your AppleTV is hidden away in some cupboard like mine.

The only new feature is HDR10+ as compared to the older model (aside from A12-A15 otherwise), but Dolby Vision is already superior than HDR10+, supports way more content, and supported in more TVs. This is only good if you own a Samsung TV that refuse to support Dolby Vision but HDR10+ standard.

The only way to justify the newer model is if you game eg Apple Arcade a lot on it. Otherwise most of the features are already there in the 2021 model: eArc to HomePods, Thread, Ethernet

The pro of the new Apple TV 2022:

- Cheaper price tag as compared to before

- A12 to A15 Bionic is a great jump.

- Huge jump in storage. But then 64gb in previous model is plenty already for a streaming device

Got mine. Very easy setup as it will immediately download all my previously installed apps (except strangely amazon prime). Needed to log in to Netflix/HBO/Disney but otherwise was a painless migration.

Much snappier navigating through menus and the faster processor is very much evident when browsing YouTube. No longer any black screens as it switches resolutions. I'm not a gamer so can't comment on that though

I was told no issue with my apple tv remote, the service center just had to do pairing of my TV remote with my apple tv and it works. The remote somehow lost pairing with my apple tv.

Just go for 128gb, it's only rm100 difference. Wired connection will be better for smart home setup, much lower latency.

Just started using Apple TV 4K with ethernet for my HomeKit set-up. So far the response is very good, Aqara M2 hub is also connected via ethernet... now in a few more weeks will be installing my blinds and curtains with lifesmart homekit hub, hopefully that one works fine.

I'm using ExpressVPN's DNS for my Apple TV.

It is not perfect, occasionally takes forever to load - especially for local contents (because its a VPN right?), so after streaming 1 episode and when it continues to the next episode, it will require a system restart otherwise it will keep playing at low-res (blurry).

That bad, huh? shocking.gif

I wonder if using ExpressVPN's router method will yield better results. If not, no point in even subscribing for their kinda pricey subscription.

the only thing make me update is i use homekit and i have AppleTV (connected wired lan) and Homepod mini
this 18.0 can select preferred device as HUB sweat.gif previously and all this while it auto select, sometime jump to Homepod mini rclxub.gif
having HUB with AppleTV wired connection i think more stable laugh.gif

Not available. Also add AstroGo to that list. TVB Anywhere also even though TVB Anywhere USA is available for the ATV.

I'm afraid not. Just not available, in the case of Astro and Unifi, maybe they just want ppl to use their set top boxes. Prevent account sharing also I guess.
