 Shemaroo DOB, Scam subscription RM2/week

Hi all

I'm creating this topic to highlight the problem that my grandfather encountered

I had a look at his itemised billing for his prepaid plan and noticed RM2 being deducted for Shemaroo DOB subscription every week

Because I am paying for his prepaid plan, this has cost me a loss of about RM30+

My grandfather is definitely not someone who would be interested in anything related to shemaroome

I called up the prepaid phone company and they told me they cant do anything about it and asked me to email Shemaroo to unsubscribe

I did some googling and noticed that many are having such issues and have no idea how to unsubscribe from this scam:

How to unsubscribe: (similar to the article linked above)
1. download the Shemaroo app from PlayStore or AppStore
2. Sign in with your phone number that is linked to the unwanted subscription
3. Navigate to the subscriptions option, you'll be (un)surprised to see that your number has an existing subscription which is the most expensive option on the list
4. Unsubscribe and pray you dont get scammed again

Dont forget to check your itemised billing frequently

I lazy to report to SKMM, therefore I'm posting here for others be aware of this scam

Not sure what telco your grandfather is using, but my FIL had the same issue last few weeks on his umobile prepaid
Not shemaroo but multiple scam providers
I called CS, mentioned that that there are fraudulent charges, I want them blocked and refunded and they complied

CS said this one is different level of scam. Something they can’t cancel and refund. Dunno why it’s like that, maybe telco pakat with shemaroo?

Last time I kana similar like this, email to telco, cc to SKMM , 2 weeks later the telco refund back my money

You should try, dont cost you anything except for your little time writing email. Dont have to go to SC.

i also encounter the same issue on my digi prepaid. early morning receive otp sms then suddenly being charged RM3 for shemaroome. but weird part is otp is send to my phone but how come shemaroome can still charge w/o otp .

get telco to investigate it

no such thing as cant cancel and cant refund

if it is, then their security is really horrible, write to skmm/kpdnkk as well

Bumping this thread because my mum just got charged for this Shemaroo.

Reported to Digi but they claimed she clicked on a link to subscribe to this service and refused to refund. My mum did not click such link nor send any OTP to activate.

CC'ed SKMM/MCMC but yet Digi still refused to refund. Any other solution? How do I ensure SKMM will take any action?

I kana similar case like this before. with meksis. email them , cc to MCMC, within 2 weeks they settled my case and refund me accordingly

whatever it is, need to make official complaint to mcmc.

Glad found this post. My account terkena. Because my kid use my second line. Im still in trouble to unsub this scam sheramoo. Damn it. The website refusing me to unsub

I just called Maxis call centre to block this charging. Shemaroome website doest let you to unsubscribe.

Hope this help anyone searching for solutions.

i believe many people do not know until they check their billing.

No wonder I always heard from old folks that their prepaid account always get deduction and emptied.

First, I wonder why this type of scam charges are exist and telco allowed them to do so. When you report, they always told you can't do anything...

The best is report to MCMC and they must meeting with the telco!!!!!!!!
