We should have gone for Enzo Fernandez in the last window, now his price is going to be crazy high.

QUOTE(KennRicky @ Dec 14 2022, 11:43 PM) Won't be surprised, loan is the more realistic solution at the moment. Or push VDB forward, make him some sort of false 9. He is just not the no.10 that we expected. He might fit the false 9 role more in this team. Well, theoretically. |

QUOTE(KennRicky @ Dec 15 2022, 08:54 PM) Eh ... won't say it is impossible, after Casemiro join us out of nowhere. But will Real Madrid let him go before they find a replacement? Might offer him 2 years contract. Unless he wanna challenge himself in PL like Casemiro, or else I can't see why he will join. I know a lots of fans will be not happy to get an old striker again. But I think find a top veteran striker + 1 young talented striker at the same time, is the best strategy. I don't see a top prime time (24 ~ 27 yrs old) forward wanna join us. Furthermore, I am reluctant to see we dump big cash like 150M just to get a striker. |

QUOTE(aaron1717 @ Dec 16 2022, 11:59 AM) with our shitty performance, kinda expected lar... now without woodward, not sure gt waterfish will wanna sponsor us or not... Not related to our performance, they probably have to pay money to get out of the deal. They are no longer making crazy money with WFH lifestyle is becoming less common. |

QUOTE(pisces88 @ Dec 23 2022, 06:19 PM) Benfica rejected 100mil for fernandez fuhh They didnt develop tho, he was highly rated and could have been purchased for under 20 mil just 1 window ago, his crazy fee now is because of the WC performance. He aint a 100mil player. They really really good in developing talents n sell for crazy fees |

QUOTE(statikinetic @ Dec 24 2022, 04:53 PM) It'a almost time to restart the second half of the season. I dont think any sane person would say Dubravka was any challenge for DDG, the guy is a Newcastle reject. What are your thoughts around Manchester United so far this season? For me, Erik Ten Hag and the team have been a solid B rating. We limped to the finish last season. Had a horrible summer transfer window in terms of strategy. Other teams strengthened better than us and I had thought pre-season that we would be around 6th place. The fact that we are 5th plus other considerations makes me think we are on the right track. We are not playing the Ten Hag way yet, our manager is making different tactical setups each game so what we are seeing is more of his tactical flexibility rather than his philosophy. He doesn't yet have the right players. Sometimes it works (Spurs), and others it doesn't. The two main issues from last season has been addressed : Maguire and Ronaldo. The two faction leaders of the dressing room rift. Some fans had said that just dropping Maguire would see them give ETH pass for the season. That happened. Our main defensive partnership prior to the break was Varane-Martinez. I would think a main factor of how our season goes is dependent on Varane so managing his health is key. Ronaldo, despite his execellent positioning and runs, doesn't quite fit how Manchester United plays as we do not feed our striker with chances but rather are dependent on the no. 9 to create as well. If Ronaldo was at City, I suppose he would be banging them in. That stylistic clash among other things came to a head before the WC and I did think that the best course for both parties was a mutual termination. And so it was. We move on. Going into the summer, my thoughts of our most critical area hasn't changed. A midfielder. I know PSG coming in for Fred sounds like a transfer dream but we need to buy before we sell. I would like FDJ to play at number 8 to partner Casemiro at 6, but I do not think it will happen. Still, 2 seasons ago I wanted Varane and last season I wanted ETH when Ole stepped down, so maybe the club will surprise me again. We also now need a forward. Martial is the best we got. I know Rashford wants to play at 9 but he is way less effective down the middle. I do not know if Joao Felix from AM would fit our playstyle. But if ETH thinks he can work as a mobile no 9, I'm backing the manager. Gakpo looks to be the most likely deal. But think about it. Another winger. Last season we had Rashford, Elanga, Diallo, Pellestri, Sancho, Shoretire and Garnacho coming through. Then we added Antony on the right. It screams volumes about the quality of players we had. Like a bad symptom, United always had quantity but never quality. The previous rushed buy transfer windor of VDB, Amad Diallio and Pellestri looks to be the panic buy it was. That brings me to the one negative I still see. Transfer strategy, scouting and negotiation. This eventually rolls up to the Director of Football. There has been many many bad decisions and wasted money in the transfer market. Last summer was another failure. One of the roles of the DoF is to scout and prepare a dossier of players that can be obtained for the manager to fit a specific profile. But we seem to either go for high profile players who everyone and their mother knows, or going for lesser players in the Eredevisie. That Eredevisie influence is no doubt from ETH, he's going back to where he knows best. Does ETH have no other options to choose from, considering Manchester United's scouting network? All in all, I think in the Jan window we may see Gakpo move. And we will still need a focal point number 9 and a midfielder. I'm all for selling Fred IF we secure a proper replacement. Oh, and I think DDG's spot is secure as it is safe to say Dubravka did not exactly take his chance last match. |

QUOTE(KennRicky @ Dec 27 2022, 05:49 AM) Am I surprised? Not at all. The transfer team still the same. Slow in reacting, weak in negotiating, prefer to drag everything. This post has been edited by simmarjit: Dec 27 2022, 07:19 AM |

QUOTE(beck_ken @ Jan 1 2023, 11:52 AM) If that was Ronaldo, he will take the punishment and went home then call Piers Morgan for interview saying ETH doesn’t respect him LOL I know the flavor of the month is shitting on Ronaldo (the guy certainly has made some braindead decisions recently) but ETH isnt a charismatic manager, he is very blunt and probably people will easily get offended by that stuff. Players that see their long term future here will not go against a new manager, if in 2 years we haven't made progress, i fully expect whatever toxic shit from before to return. |
