Kinda have career dilemma for middle age man. In career should i choose field that pay much more or the one that i more interested but pay kinda low. Previously working in IT security field. This job is the one i like and interested because it involve computer work, configure, testing and set up security system but pay kinda like 2k but if ot can reach 2.8k. Current job supervisory related already almost a year and an M&E job involve kinda heavy stuff and kinda need to involve in manage project and kinda like QA and QC(Yes i know the differences) but pay kinda good even though no OT for OT job. Basic just 2.5k but with all random and fixed allowance can reach min 3k to 4k.

IT i unlikely can fight young guy with degree cause SPM only like those degree have knowledge but told them to modify wiring then blur liao. I good at half half. The only advantage i have is experience in construction and hand skill job.

If were you which one will /k choose. Money or interest???Cum cum share your opinion

If u r good in wat u do then do side business. Slowly will get long term customers. but if u no do wholeheartedly better stay employed. World is cruel

Looks like your thread has been moved out of /k so the way how you write (not grammatically) probably shows why you are stuck where you are. What I am referring to is your defeatist attitude saying that it is unlikely you can fight young guys with degrees. There are many people in the field of IT where they don't have degrees but worked their way up through self-learning and online classes. Is it easy? No, it is damn difficult. At the end of the day, you reap what you sow. So whatever effort you put in, you would see those efforts fluorish.

2k is too low... If u stay in your current position, and looking at your job scope, even if u are doing well, i believe that's not much career advancement too?
Where u foreseen u will be in 10 years if u stay? Would u satisfy with the pay and lifestyle? If no the answer is obvious

The problem is current position actually have more career advancement than previous IT job. The problem is M&E always Ot Ot and the job is not the field I interested which seems like project management which I always need to deal with people yet I am introvert . I prefer IT related stuff and hard skill job which I could doing my own job less dealing with people
