With anticipation going strong for the iPhone 15 release, what has been an effective preorder method to receive the phone on launch day for you? I will never forget my sour experience preordering physically with Machines Mid Valley last year, so I will not patron them again. I am hoping for an option to preorder online with collection in store, thinking of Switch this time. Excited for Malaysian fans to collect our titaniums on launch day Sep 29.

I've been ordering from the Apple app and getting it delivered to my home. Happy I bypassed all the local shenanigans during the Apple Watch Ultra launch this way.

From past experience, log in earlier everyone - maybe 1130-1145 standby and logged in. If you log in at 12:01am, server might have crashed

I'm already logged in right now.

Apple Store also not sure when will deliver based on the feedback here too. Hopefully soon.

Date I got was 5th Oct.
Apple usually fulfills earlier so hoping it happens. But I can live with the 5th Oct date.

Putting in cart i got 5th october, when payment time slipped to 11 to 18 october sad.gif got the email confirmation at 12:05am. Funnily enough, the payment gateway crashed twice while trying to purchase
*
This is directly from Apple?
I punched in using the Apple app on the iPhone. because I had my payment details already setup it was pretty smooth. Not the slightly longer processing time though.

OMG! I’m so careless! 😭 last night during all the panic commotion to PO, I accidentally went and took the wrong phone plan with DiGi. Instead of 120 plan, took 150. Cannot cancel right?😔
*
I was concerned this might happen to me so I took some extra time to double check that I picked the right phone and specs.
Otherwise could've been quicker.

I think the problem here is majority of us wants our stuff on 29th Sept. laugh.gif This doesn’t apply to those can wait. So, the anxiety is mainly for this not about securing the units or not.

I want my stuff today if possible. biggrin.gif

Been reading a lot of negative reviews about the Finewoven case.
So much so that I reversed my decision to try it and go for silicone instead.

You bought your phones? Finally which model and specs you go for? 15k should be enough  biggrin.gif
*
Bought the 15 and the 15 Pro.
Plus a bundle of accessories. Came to about 13k all in.

Apple already shipped the accesories, but the phones are yet to be shipped.
Looks like I'll get my casings and what not before the actual phone.

Only iPhone 15 and 15 plus have chance to get India set.

Most ppl are going for pro seriously. So should not be a concern.

Some news outlets are saying India's production units are meant for the Chinese market.
Only thing we can do is hope and pray when we get the phone.

sometimes ‘investing’ in a decent case is worth it. i mean it’s an expensive piece of tech, unless we have AppleCare then sure, can go naked full monty. otherwise…
*
Some of us have hopped on the caseless bandwagon. biggrin.gif

Dont use adapters. Just buy some cheap Ugreen USB-C cables

Yes to this.
Can't be rocking the latest 15 Pro but then seen using inefficient adapters.

You buy adapter, you still carrying 2 things around. The difference is adapter and lightning cable. I don't deny carrying it's still easier to carry these but just pointing it out.

Eventually you will move on to buying usb c cable.

If you buy adapter, is to only DELAY buying usb c cable.

It's a matter of pick your poison. I rather just buy the cable. I just want to get to the end faster.
*
Wonderfully put.

QUOTE(westlife @ Sep 24 2023, 08:28 AM)
Yeah. Unlikely will damage unless one drop the phone and the lenses touch some sharp option directly pointing them.

Actually saw some lens protectors just protect around the borders of the edge of the camera lenses. But seems like most cases won’t have extra room once put on to allow them to be installed separately.
*
Even if there was Apple Care, I don't think I will take it up.

There seems to be two camps at either end right now.

One is the minimalists who don't have cases or protections over their phones.
The other are those who put protection on their devices, down to the camera lenses.

Yes, if u intend to use it rare on hands, then likely u will buy apple care+ if with case seriously may not be necessary. But of course one has extra money can always get it for piece of mind as well la.

My past iPhones including iPhone 4s which I have 2 units of them, iPhone 4 1 unit, iPhone 6 Plus 1 unit and iPhone X 2 units, none of them were spoiled and they are still working as of now. Just need to replace battery only.
*
That's my experience as well.
Have older phones which are still totally ok, just needs a new battery popped in and it's good to go.

For battery replacement, you all will go for Switch/Machine? I look at the price for IP 12Pro, including service charge etc, will cost 400++
*
400 bucks for an Apple device which can be used as opposed to leaving it in the drawer .
So price is worth it in my book. Just be mindful that older devices may not be getting critical security patches with the iOS upgrades if it is out of support.

i agree with your point on the battery replacement. for those purchasing a well taken care iPhone 13 at a secondhand price just need to fork out 400 bucks and you have a quality phone that is still decent enough to compete with the latest flagships.

i don’t think support is an issue with Apple devices. i mean, you will get at least 5 years of major OS updates from Apple - even iPhone XS that was launched in 2018 will still receive iOS17.

the great thing about Apple is continuity - i think for most people. 5 years should be the max they will keep their phones la haha
*
I've got older devices already out of support.
These are good as spare secondary devices. Sometimes kids needs something to Zoom or some other use case. We use it for basic functions, but not to perform financial transactions or anything so the risk is pretty low.

Where do you get the battery replaced?
Using original battery replacement ?
Thanks

Authorised resellers charge RM400 for it.
As the posts above indicate.

QUOTE(isr25 @ Sep 24 2023, 10:31 AM)
Just charge using your cable normally but lean it on something at the back
*
I'm thinking if you know of a simple keyring or stand that attaches via Magsafe so I can prop it up while charging?

QUOTE(ry8128 @ Sep 24 2023, 11:10 AM)
You mean those phones with ios support stop, will have higher security risk?

I am still using my ip7+ as my main phone and doing banking transactions. So this is risky? If yes, then suddenly I have a reason to change phone already  sweat.gif
*
Yes.

This is because security flaws discovers cannot be fixed. If it is still in support, next update will fix the bug. But for old devices no longer receiving updates, the vulnerability persists. So guess I'll have to give you a reason to poison you haha.

Banking industry soon will rollout measures that devices out of support will not be able to do mobile banking as a fraud prevention measure. It's coming so be ready.
