the scratches were quite bad in person, its as if I put it on a rough surface and force scratch it on purpose....normally I would just suck it up if its not much.... imagine the feeling of holding it yet need to return and wait for couple more weeks...
and yes thats exactly what Apple said, no way we pay for new phone and unbox to see scratches like these, the manager I spoke to said he is a consumer himself and would make a fuss over similar issue...especially paying for a product well over a thousand dollars..

i had the similar scratch on mine as well (black titanium) but mine is not that obvious as the frame is black but if you see it closely and on certain angle .... you can see the similar line....i used finger to rub off it would just go away and comeback if i rub it with microfiber cloth....
the staff at switch are just dumb fold when i told them about the scratch.... They just speechless and make poker face at the same time, they don know what to do.... but try to pretend they didn't see it and wanted to get this quickly ended by shove to customer that it is ok and normal due to titanium material and they wanted to used the store sample for comparison..... i told them i cannot used your store ones to compare as ppl had been pulling out the phone and place them back in charge ....
obviously there will be scratches bound to happen on your unit which cannot bench mark with open box... further more the lighting in that sample area a dim where their service center are bright white lit … then they proceed to get the open unit on the next customer to show me .... which is blue color....
although there is no scratch to be found but i notice there is severe discoloration on the frame....but the customer gladly accept it as they are just too happy to receive their new iPhone and walk away after return to them

....seem that ppl just don care and would happily accept their phone with such defect.... Malaysian are too linear when it comes to quality
i end up talking to the supervisor and they had no choice but to give me a replacement unit.....honestly this could been better resolve if they just admit that is a scratches and give me replacement instead of wasting my time just waiting there....
one thing i want to point out....it seem blue seem to having high possibility of discoloration on the frame... i notice on one of the open box unit and also sample in the switch sample.....
