You want artsy you watch Bunohan. You either go all masses or all in on intellectuals. Else you get Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa. Neither here nor there

How you know if they make something like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, non-Malays not going to watch it? Remember PASKAL, a lot of non-Malays watch it too.

The criticism came back because the movie was released on Netflix and a lot of people who did not watch it check it out.

It’s good that Malays like the movie and it’s a big box office hit but can you really call this movie a movie made for Malaysian like how Malay political parties are promoting it? Sorry to say, despite all the hype about patriotism about this movie, it is just another movie patriotism of Melayu and Islam.

At the end of the day, a lot of people review the movie based on whether the movie is good or not compared to similar type of movies in the past whether it’s in Malaysia or outside Malaysia and it’s just average. Not totally un-entertaining but definitely can be improved.
