It is only a movie not a history movie. Almost of all the historical facts in this movie are wrong.

Yup the name and person is true, but the facts in that movie does not match with facts in history books.

I watched it on Netflix. I agree on the cinematography. Damn shaky and pening.

Story line ok ok lah - good try.

But I would hope the props and costume can be a bit better - more realistic for that time period. For example, where got gold mine camps use white color canvas and look so clean geh?

The rest are made up stories. It's 2022, it's safe to say move on.

It's pretty crappy and amateur hour movie really. Mat Kilau speak with Bale-Batman voice throughout the movie for some reason and dude's characterization is as thing as paper ---- basically, he's a badass...and that's it. Same for the villain...they are evil, anddddd that is it for their characterization. Terrible makeup too. And no humor whatsoever, everyone and everything must be super serious.

The fight sequences felt rehearsed and slow and the sound effect for all those hits is just something those parody youtuber use in their videos....

The movie is pretty damn manipulative too showing kids and pregnant woman getting violently murdered as a way to rile emotion. Like even hollywood movies rarely does that.

Kesimpulannya, tonton RRR je lah. Similar premise and it's a better movie as a whole where you'll laugh and cheer at what on screen instead of feeling depressed.

Aiyaaa so many basher....but reality in k/ not many "actually" watch the movie.
I just watch also on Netflix, story pretty much like stereotypes patriotic movie.... The thumbsdown is the fighting scene, stupid camera shake too much..... Mcm mau vommit.

I assume the movie has sequel? Cause end prematurely…

My feedback:

1. The final battle scenes shall hire more part timers or cgi like End Game to make it more epic, add some slow-mo high fps scene …

2. I only enjoy the scene where they raid the warehouse that awang guy dodge bullets like Matrix 👍🏼

3. All the actors speak in different speech intonation, some like normal human beings some like hyper slow too emo, some like reciting puisi/sajak … shall standardize the style .. unless this is scifi movie where characters coming from different time frame

4. British, chinese and sikh are all villains, all malays are defacto heroes … no middle ground that pinpoint specific character are bad, but try to blanket entire race it seems … even the malay traitor has to give chance to turn hero …

5. Lazy to find the exact name of the character, for one i saw the name of character show on screen as “Professor Cameron” and ”Captain Syers” … if is based on history should have full name, else if fiction can give full name of character, Professor James Cameron ke, Cpt Albert Syers ke … for the respect of each characters, not just a calling name. Poor character development of Mat Kilau the main character.

6. Before the movie starts shall display Star Wars rolling intro of what currently happened, give brief history a bit lah, Britisih invaded and brutalize the Pahang society in what what year for how many years but a hero stand to go against them and became a legend ….. then movie starts to tell the tale …

7. Should put in some efforts to intro what is Mat Kilau famous lethal silat moves.

8. Overly god reference in too many scenes …


Hope future “hero” movie can improve, good effort definitely not great yet.

There is a big difference between Sunkist reviewers and non-Sunkist reviewers.

One will be called "pengkhianat', while the other will asked to "balik (name of ancestors home".

How you know if they make something like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, non-Malays not going to watch it? Remember PASKAL, a lot of non-Malays watch it too.

The criticism came back because the movie was released on Netflix and a lot of people who did not watch it check it out.

It’s good that Malays like the movie and it’s a big box office hit but can you really call this movie a movie made for Malaysian like how Malay political parties are promoting it? Sorry to say, despite all the hype about patriotism about this movie, it is just another movie patriotism of Melayu and Islam.

At the end of the day, a lot of people review the movie based on whether the movie is good or not compared to similar type of movies in the past whether it’s in Malaysia or outside Malaysia and it’s just average. Not totally un-entertaining but definitely can be improved.
