About time to shop for motorcycle insurance for my 150cc scooter.

I am looking for road side assist and towing feature to be included, in case I am stranded at ulu places and need to call tow truck.

Few months back I noticed Alianz has this Road Warrior add-on, after checking with them, my kemaluan-besor 150cc scooter not accepted as it's catering for above 250cc.

So far I found:
1. AXA - need to add PA for roadside assist
2. Berjaya SOMPO - default has roadside assist for small bike
3. P&O - default with roadside assist and towing RM150 (review from forumer below, complaint difficult to get through to hotline)
4. Allianz - Motorcycle plus
5. AXA - need to add PA RM13 + Towing RM10

Any recommendation for others that has this roadside assist feature?

More importantly, is their helpline easy to get through when you needed them to assist, not to renew insurance? biggrin.gif

Thanks.

Just checked their online page and their policy.
No roadside assist.
You arrange your own towing if needed and they reimburse max RM50.
Same like AXA without adding PA.

So Etiqa no go.

Pacific and Orient is useless.

- 200cc bike dead and cannot start on 10th June (Fri) 6pm on highway.
- Met a kindhearted individual who aid to push it back home.
- Call them the next day (11th June Sat) in order to ferry it to bike shop for repair, no answer
- Call them the next next day (13th June Mon), no answer
- Call them the next day (14th June Tue), only managed to get through around 930am

Talked so much ended up told me need to wait for the towing, they not sure their towing trucks whereabouts and cannot give me a specific time when the towing will be available. Say will call me back once they managed to get hold of one.

In the end I spent RM200 for private towing, settled it within 30 minutes.

When I made inquiry to Road Warrior of Alianz, an agent contacted me and informed me only for 250 and above.

Then I read the website again in detail, yes, only 250 and above.

The agent also told me they had JUST introduced road side assist (not road warrior) for below 250cc.
However, I can't find this info on their website. Else would have included on to the list above.

Will reach out to the agent again and see.

seems like Berjaya SOMPO is good enough then? has assist for small bikes too. Was looking to get a bike from imotorbike in PJ. Their insurance provider might be Berjaya SOMPO based on their website.

on the matter of insurance, since bike insurance only covers bike and medical (mine has PA included), can't seem to find any that covers our gear. And we know how much our gear cost, especially a good helmet.

Problem with sompo for me is its database recognizes my bike as Honda Wave after entering relevant details, but it’s not. Agent can’t change the bike model at all.

Don’t want to risk anything on dispute if unfortunate enough having to file claims

If B Sompo got my bike's model correct, then I would have bought it.

Hi, time for me to renew my roadtax.
Read that B Sompo is not bad. I saw from their website, unlimited towing assistance.

Anyone has any experience with their service level so far. Check B Sompo Facebook, it is like the other end of the world with many many negative feedbacks.

BTW, what is everyone using these days?

Allianz Bike Warrior is for 250cc above, recommended to get if your insurance coverage doesn't provide roadside assist. It's better than scrambling for bike towing that would easily cost RM200/RM250 and above. Plus it's unlimited number of towing during your coverage period. Peace of mind even if I don't really expect that I would need it.

For smaller cc bikes, I'm not too sure, I last heard Allianz was planning to introduce something but I didn't follow up on this. Anyway most people will say kapcai is small/light and easy to push or have some kind biker to help "tolak", but it's usually for intercity situations, if you are travelling long distance on kapcai I imagine you would want some roadside coverage.

I still find it dumb that we pay so much for bike insurance but it doesn't automatically comes with free towing unlike cars

My guess is that from the insurance company point of view, motorcycles have much higher chances of needing a tow than cars, like if there's a flat, there's no spare tire you can slap on. Or any minor fall or bike being dropped may snap the shifter and you cannot ride it so need a tow.

That's just my thought only.
