Now that I almost finished everything but only thing stuck is final year project

However I am struggling to ever finish my project because

I already lost my interest into programming over these covid times

I cannot ever write a line of code at all. Of course i can learn online, but still I don't like reading at documentation of that particular language

My current project have been in "development hell" for couple of years. It about a PC programming with web elements

Should I just abandoned the degree, or try negotiating with supervisor about changing the project to another like web app or mobile app, but i still worry that such thing might be too much for me to handle

If i abandoned degree and find a job instead, will be hard to find or just something like property insurance agent? (I never try on such thing ever yet)

So what now? Money bleeding still stuck at project that never get progress since couple years ago

Ps: already undergone the internship between such things last year

Anything to add on myself i will edit later

Edit: seems like this OP sounds too desperate that most responses suggest to find or hire someone for help. actually my project is at least partially done with some part of report completed and crude prototype that reversed from somewhere on GitHub. but maybe i will start it from scratch with another title and project type and then hire someone for help. thanks ya

Do not take final year project too seriously, do not burden yourself by doing FYP projects which are too complex. They do not care actually.

A simple and functional systems , etc which can solve several problem statements will do.

I have seen many students hiring external people to complete their FYP projects. Ethically it is not a right thing to do but who cares...🤣🤣

This. I have the same issue just like TS back when I was in Uni, and so I just simplify the project and went online to get those YouTube tutorial where the person showing you how to build a simple system from scratch and it works. So I managed to graduate.

Hire an expert to settle it. You just need to "finish" your degree and move on. I dont suggest you to give up your degree since you are almost there.

Change the project or get someone to do it .. you’re almost at the finish line … if this is a parents funded degree, then I suggest u do them a favor by completing it , regardless you’ll be working in the field or not .

Bro u just 10% away from completion and u want to quit. It makes a lot of difference between degree and no degree u know.

Just try to ask for a simpler fyp and complete ur degree just for the sake of the paper.

if you really struggle to complete your FYP, just pay some1 to complete it, its not worth giving up the degree after spending so many years

and after you graduate, you can switch to other IT stuff apart from coding or even field

Don't do what I did when I was young while abandoning my degree during 21 because of first love heartbroken. Now I'm regretting not completing it and redoing it under part time degree.. I've bare the cost more.

Bite the bullet and complete it. Hire someone to do the fyp or pm me.

Think outside of the box, you don't necessarily need to complete the fyp. Answers are out there in Google.com or some pros can do for some cash. Rather than you spend it for entertainment, finish it.

Best advice I can tell to my younger self is complete the degree asap.

Pay someone to get it done, then once graduated never code anymore and do sales. Property sales expected to boom soon and need many agents.

get the degree first, do different job later
i know a few people decided to do non-IT-related work because they just can't and hate IT

Hahahaha i think i know which uni. Somewhere between Lumut and Ipoh.

Anyway, try to talk to your SV first. Been to your situation before. FYP is not everything. The BIS also not everything.

Just remember, a degree is just your ticket or stepping stone to step into corporate world. Doesnt mean if grad BIS, immediately start as programmer tomorrow.

If you want to venture into business, by all means go ahead but finish your degree ie FYP first

Try your best to complete your degree. If your FYP is not something that you can do, try negotiating with your professor/lecturer to see if there are other areas you can work on. Programming isn't for everyone and IT is wide enough that there are plenty of other areas where you don't need programming.

Right now "chicked soup" won't help you anything..... smile.gif

1. Keep going with your project. As per your condition now...I don't think you should put effort on the future road, but the completion rate of that project. That's all and just clearly enough. IT degree should have a courses similar to project planning right? The content of that courses is now suitable to your current situation. Plan your last road of FYP with project planning.

2. Don't simply discard your current degree or project. If you are a superhero, then ok loh, you may. The risk is too much higher, even gamble. FYP is not a simple group assignment only, it is more to realistic, that is how you will handle in the future. You can't escape all the time, this happens to EVERY SUBJECT.

3. If still have plenty of time, take a fully rest for 3 days +-, put all the shitty subjects aside, and go do anything that is not relate to the courses. Definitly you will have effort to continue your "war".

Pay money to a desperate student but with talent or highly interested to code. Or like other said, expert help to code but you modify and check each line.

Just finish it.

What are your groupmates doing? Usually FYP is a group project, maybe you can leverage on your groupmates on the programming part, while you focus on the documentation, report, or communications such as presenting.

But seriously, just don't give up now.
Just do the bare minimum and get a pass and move on.
When you look back years later, your current struggle is just a minor setback in your life, and you'll thank yourself for pulling through.

Someone with a degree is still miles better than one without any qualifications, at least there's something to fall back on. It's a basic ticket to land you a job.

Sos: Myself, who graduated with bachelors at the age of 28. Even I can graduate why cant you?

Just finish up the FYP then grad.

If cannot finish the FYP, then change the FYP title to something that you have interest.

Think about why you started in the first place.

IT is not just about programming.. the fundamental you learn is logical thinking and technology…

For job, you can easily switch to what you want to do. My class last time combine ICT & BIS from utp. From 120+ people only 5 people end up doing programming, the rest ada go HR, ada go Consultancy, even ada dah jadi calon PRU 😂.

So my advice is to finish your FYP. Your FYP does not require to code. You just need to develop a proof of concept product, minimum viable product. There’s tons of stuff online can help you build the product easily and it is called low code no code solution and most of the organisation are moving towards this solution.

Back then my FYP is about coding a Braille hardware for the blind to interpret HTML image for blind people. I DID NOT put a single line of code at all since the Braille hardware is not an open source. All I did is I made a simple prototype using drag and drop but I’m more focused on the value, impact, respondent to not left this disable people behind.

I presented my product to Lecturer and corporate people and I did manage to get A-. Include some of those corp people pmed me to work with them and want to collab to make this idea became true. All I did is a simple slide, lengthy proposal, and Photoshop UI/UX (back then no Figma/Adobe XD).

Stress out the importance of your product and value is moreee important than showing your capability to code. Because all they need to know HOW you can implement this logic and what’s the value proposition.

Once you have grad, go with your own path, Business, HR, consultancy etc. most of the IT in malaysia pun rely on vendor to implement, you’ll be more toward analyst to define requirements… but if you go startup of course it is expected to do hardcore programming…

It is never too late, I have a colleague who is superb programmer with 7+ years experience, now he became HR headhunter for IT related because he said less stress… so yeah… never too late. Just go on and enjoy, kalau lepas, lepas lah. X lepas cuba lagi. This is learning process, chill.

You want to just get over with it, hire someone to finish the project. Personally that FYP gave zero value for my career. Just get over with it, and get the degree paper, that's all you need for next step

I toiled my way through the FYP and it was all my blood and sweat. It was just a simple e-commerce system developed using ASP for the online part and Java on the back end. It was all my own lines of code. Nothing spectacular but I'm glad I did it on my own. When I browsed through the catalog of previous projects done by other students, their projects sounded more "sophisticated" than mine. If they really did it on their own, hats off to them, but if they hired external party to do it, then that's nothing to be proud of.

just finish it lah, anyway possible just finish it. Hire people to help finish it if you have too. I dont know about you but my FYP is not hard and I didnt do it that well as my peers, but still manage to complete it despite I totally sucked at programming early in the course. I dont like programming that much but still end up with degree, ok paying job. Now looking for house to buy in Penang Island

Get a simpler project, so many tutorials online that can help, just put a couple of hours a day into it and done.

To those who keep advising to pay others to do it, do you realise that it is unethical and against the law? How does that reflect on your character then? If you're going to do that, might as well don't complete your degree. Always looking for the easy way out...

I had a fren, stopped for 2 years, then complete his course.

Check whether ur course can stop a while, for how long, then come back.

Dont waste it. U may not b at the level now but u might need it later on in life. Ur exposure n experience in life might lead u like what u didnt at different time period

I am 24 and now in final year of IT degree in a private university i cannot say due to privacy concerns

But i can share the name of degree course anyway, it titled
Business information systems

Edit: seems like this OP sounds too desperate that most responses suggest to find or hire someone for help. actually my project is at least partially done with some part of report completed and crude prototype that reversed from somewhere on GitHub. but maybe i will start it from scratch with another title and project type and then hire someone for help. thanks ya

Very good advice

Character of a man is shown when you do things no one is watching.

Sadly, many fail here. Then question why our leaders are dishonest. Dengki only. Don't have any moral at all.
