just curious... did you search to see if the same usd mmf is available in IBKR?
based on my personal experience, it is better to have one's fund readily available in your primary trading platform so that one can invest immediately when time is right. ibkr have loads of options for usd cash like instruments, although i mainly just use t-bills when parking my usd there.
I didn't say so. Bloomberg says so... or more accurately, the analysts quoted by Bloomberg says so.
Errm yes, gradual appreciating policy. But how much gradual is "gradual" is a very subjective matter. From 1982 onwards yes. But from 2015 onwards maybe sideways is a better description?
A lot has to do with global inflation and interest rate levels. History and geopolitical outlooks matter too. Singapore is already a very land-constrained country. Unless UHNWIs keep hiding money and washing money there, there is not much source of demand for SGD to appreciate. SG government is running on very tight budget, so not much fiscal surplus available to boost SGD from within SG.
Past 1 year , it sucks holding SGD.
It dropped more than USD and interest is lower than USD.
traditionally, when USD reign supreme as world's central bank's main foreign reserve, any small hiccup will cause usd to strenghten. Maybe this round the market see Trump's antics as distruptive to trade or investments? USD bond yields are going down too.... EU, JP, UK... economy way larger than MY's. smaller countries really can't fight back using tariff...
I think forign investors are running away from US.
Of course they will prefer to run to safe developed currencies. Malaysia is still a higher risk wmerging market. But hopsfully got spillover.
It's just cause trump cause people to doubt the USD. Buy when it's cheap. Sales doesn't come frequently.
But Trump is going to be around for next 4 years.
Anyway, here is comparison market performance of US equities market (represented by SPY etf) vs rest of developed markets europe, japan etc (represented by IEAFE etf), both in USD terms.
US is down ytd, other markets up.
