I think is how you approach the sales as a person, and build that relationship. Salesmen and saleswomen have seen all kinds of shoppers, and they need to figure out which types to ignore.

Think of it this way, they are making a living, while we take our hard earned cash to buy an expensive toy. While you're shopping, they are working. But of course, when we're working, some of them off-day.

Some ppl go around shopping for the cheapest bike down to the last hundred or two, and expect the best after sales service. Honestly speaking, some shops can afford to choose their customers now - too much money going around but not enough bikes to supply.

Totally disagree..In sales line, it's the other way round.. Salesperson should have build the relationship and not the customer.. Customer are paying, so direct or indirectly salesperson is earning from customers.. Talking from POV of ex salesperson..

If those salesperson thinking they have enough sales to be selective, then please don't beg when your time is up, it's that simple.. You can choose whom to approach and we can choose from whom to buy as well..

And as for customer being fuzzy or looking for cheap bike, hey, that's what salesperson are paid for.. Of course everyone choosing the best service with minimal price.. We are not millionaires which we can spend money like water.. But still at the end, I believe if the salesperson's service is good and being informative enough, customer will be willing to spend a couple more.. It's all up to salesperson's skills..
There are literally minimal ppl to just go see bike for fun.. Almost every customers are potential customers, just that maybe pricing, bikes model, or also they don't have enough money yet.. But even if it is so, once the customer have enough money they will still come back if the service is good..
That is what a salesperson for.. To give suggestions or persuade them to buy.. If your shop only want serve 100% deal customer, better of just put a computer at front desk.. Want buy, place order, don't want buy go away.. Why wanna waste money paying to salesperson every month? (This phrase is a lecture by my sales manager back then)..
