edit - found out that i have bunion where the large toe knuckle/bone is larger than the other foot and its causing swelling/pain while wearing my riding shoe.

would appreciate if anyone knows of any shoe that is bunion friendly, has wider/bigger area around the toe bone part and is not a tight fit.

wouldnt wanna go around buying shoes till i find a good fit. the pain/swelling will only be felt 1 hour after wearing it therefore i am unable to know if its causing any discomfort during shoe tryout.

I've been using forma vantage for close to 5 years now. Good for riding but not so much for walking. Not goretex but keeps the water out for light rains. Just need to reapply adhesive in case the base falls out.

Are you sure you're wearing the right size?

i picked the same size as i would usually for leather/sport shoes, there's no pinching or tightness on my toes and i dont struggle putting on the shoe, but after a while i feel that particular spot starts to hurt, like as tho that spot is smaller than the other shoe. no idea.

Protective gear got symmetry issues

Not sure if this suits you
I'm wearing this tcx riding shoes. Comfy.
I wear this to office, go jalan jalan.
And best thing of all is water proof

I was wearing this just now when riding home in the rain. Socks still dry.

what? so basically buying riding boots depends on luck for a good fit? this pair of mine i wore less than 10 times because every single time after wearing it, that bone part hurts.(wore it for a day on sunday and it swell the entire yesterday ). what a waste of money.
thing is, i can't feel the pressure point when trying out the shoe, it only start hurting after walking for 30-1 hour or so.
no idea whether i will be having this issue with other shoes hmm.gif and they're not cheap cry.gif

not just boots

from my recent gloves purchase experience, first pair left hand nice, right hand tight.
another pair, same size model, I swapped one side that feels more symmetry.
- both are reputable brands, A* and Held.

some ppl buy things like this, test liao, size correct, then ask for another brand new in box and pay for that
end up, the one in box have symmetry issues
when I advise ppl buying things, buy the one u tried on

certain items really really should avoid gambling - gloves, boots, helmet because is fitting on top of just sizing.
some ppl don't mind wearing loose, but for me, I want them fit because I'm imaginary racer.

That area is typically reinforced for your shifter. It's going to be stiffer than normal shoes. Only way to go about this is to get softer less protective boots.

If you think this is bad, try walking with ADV boots. Lol.

Maybe you can try getting a good cobbler to expand the boot.

More protection = less walking comfort
More walking comfort = less protection

I have yet to find motorcycle-specific boots that are comfortable enough to walk around in all day. The ones that are, are hardly any diff from street shoes... except for the expensive price.

thank you for naming the term, i have suspected that might be the case but didnt actually look at my foot. and yes the bone is noticeably larger on my right foot compared to my left and that's the one causing the pain. naturally in that state even during normal times.

would appreciate if anyone knows what brand/shoes that is softer in material or has a wider/bigger area on the toe knuckle/bone area so that it wont cause me pain and agony.

Malaysia has very few offerings to none.
Traffic police boots maybe an option.

Wide shoe size are shown as SIZE+[B (extra narrow), C (narrow), D (regular), E (wide), EE (extra wide), and EEE (triple wide)]
Please google to understand more.

Traffic police boots offer very little protection.

I bought one online because I needed a boot on short order as my china boot needs 2 weeks to arrive.

Then either go find doctor to settle it (ie operation) or just buy a size bigger?
I think no human have symmetrically identical limbs (size of your hand, feet and length)
I bought a pair of RS Taichi gloves, right side feels tighter than the left.
Heck, even my shoulders are right side longer than the left.
Maybe im a defected person. Lol. But that's just the way it is.. Manufacturers only produce things based on identical sides.

going for surgery in order to wear boots for riding cannot la, have to settle for softer material shoes, better than wearing sneakers.

just found out that TCX shoes have wider footbed compared to other brands. Like harrylee said, malaysia has very few offerings. found the shoe but they dont have the size.

no choice but to head over to thailand to buy

I bought a pair of ARCX branded boots. You can search for it on shopee. Price ranges from 480 to 350. They seem to offer quite a huge range of designs so I assume they are fairly reputable.

user posted image. Mid boot. I think it was about 300ish on shopee discount.

Used it for 26k KM already. Partial leather construction. Fairly comfortable. I could walk in it for hours.

The rubber coating on the edge is peeling slightly at the shifter area. Waterproofing lasted about a year. Now it leaks badly....but in all fairlness, most boots will eventually leak. Full leather ones will probably fair better in terms of waterproofing. But if it was full leather, you'd be looking at 600-1000 ish already. I would change my boot every year instead.
