 TNB fuse problem

Hi all, brief story here. Please help me to decide the outcome. I am tenant of a new unit at Mont Kiara Serviced Condo.

Day 1. 12 August
10am sudden light comes off. Thought is sudden electricity outrage. Called agent to ask owner what happen, owner told was TNB people come over to change fuse.
I also went to Management Office, then the Technician A comes with with a harsh attitude said someone took the fuse, and ask me what to do for the consequences. I said I will asked owner to check.

Day 2 - 3,
Light on and off, like using solar power. I don’t have owner contact, so just ask agent to refer back owner WTH is happening.

Day 4,
I called TNB to send technician come over to check, then the technician told me it’s not their problem. The fuse not there and asked me to refer management.
The technician A WhatsApp me photo of my circuit board: fuse not there, wire burnt.
Told me it’s emergency and asked me to settle, because TNB can’t repair it.
Called agent, agent said the management likes to throw the ball around. Said no authority can’t get in the power room, sure is management problem.
Owner called management, but still can’t settle the problem.

Day 5,
Today, still no electricity.

The problem is, should I find technician to fix the issue and buy the fuse?
Or to wait the management and owner to resolve the problem.
Or is there any other solution can suggest to me?



I checked the price of the fuse, usually below RM70. And I can asked other technician to come over to check my wire. Don’t feel like spending money, but a week without electricity is torture. Some more need to WFH.

Must change the fuse socket too. Also, need to check the wire. If burnt, need to replace. Usually, the owner will handle this but if he or she cannot handle it, u can pay someone to do it but charge back to the owner (rental deductions). Ensure got agreement to do so from the owner. Record down the voice conversation.

Agents are useless ones. They only collect rentals but don't do maintenance for the property. Not their job scope. Some will go the extra mile but the majority won't bother.

Fuse that expensive? Well, I'm not which type is used there.

Yes. I think the fuse is not TNB responsibility. I think the developer will provide the fuse for once. If stolen, then it is the owner responsibility to get new one. Why management want to access TNB room. You can just plug in the fuse. No need to turn power off in TNB supply room.

Oppss. I did not read carefully. The fuse socket burned. Electrician can do replacement even without power off. smile.gif

Agents are useless... don't bother them....
since u WFH...

u better find own solution...
use own $$$ & fix it...

TNB cannot do...
it's house owner responsibilities....

Tell the agent , you rent & pay rent to expect the working condition , this is not your problem . Fix it, if cannot fix it , get consent from owner to allow it to be fix by you first & later deduct back from the next month rental.

im sharing my experience, last few year my house got blackout all of sudden in the middle of the night , all teres house just us bad luck, then tnb arrive after half an hour, replced the fuse(sebiji tu ), then problem occurred again after couple of day, they came tukar fuse, FOC and im surprised!!

Don't be surprised. Everything until, and including the meter, belongs to TNB, and is their responsibility to maintain. This means the fuse belongs to them and they will change it FOC if it is giving problems.
