50% off Selangor affordable homes – if BN wins, says MCA

Selangor MCA has suggested the price of affordable homes in Selangor be reduced by 50% if Barisan Nasional manages to win power in the state at the coming general election.

Selangor MCA chief Ng Chok Sin suggested the price of affordable homes built under a state government programme be reduced from RM250,000 to RM125,000.

However, it was conditional on BN winning Selangor, the Star quoted him as saying.

Speaking at the Selangor BN convention, he said the MCA hoped that BN would look into aid for entrepreneurs, especially women, by providing them with capital and training.

“There will be a one-stop centre consisting of all relevant government agencies to benefit entrepreneurs, in a bid to make Selangor the biggest entrepreneurial hub in the nation,” he said.

Either government pay the subsidy and move Malaysia closer to Sri Lanka status OR they force developers to pay resulting in the unit becoming small/cheap materials or cross subsidy will result in higher price homes for non-rsku homes. There is no such thing as free lunch...someone will have to pay for it!

It's gonna be cross subsidy again. Even the KPKT regulations state that developers are supposed to cross subsidise building of low cost housing with the regular or higher cost units. Never ending robbing us the hard working middle class.

lol this one easy trick to accomplish. Instead of offering 900 sqft for RM250k, just sell 450 sqft studio for 125k. 'Cheaper' mah haha. This trick already being used in a few new selangorku developments in Ara and Kota Damansara lol

Let’s hope this is a bit of deterrent for the developers to not flood the market and sit on their land banks a bit whilst existing stock slowly gets absorbed. This is the only plus side I can see for now. It does mean any new launches will be grossly expensive and is a bit of a life line for subsales or overhang property
