Some ATIVA users on FB managed to find out some secret hidden menus on the ori HU by tapping somewhere in the setting menu





The menus are mostly in Chinese and used for testing purposes. Seems like the firmware is developed by ZhongHong (China Company that used to cooperate with Betamek)

For the OS part, I have dig inside the log file of the Carbit Link on my phone (aka Smartlink), then I found out that the ori HU is stated as model D55L and Linux OS
Can't track back the log file now because it is deleted

The Ativa original HU is actually looking good (floating screen unlike Toyota's CRT) and quite smooth to use as it uses capacitive touchscreen instead of resistive used on Myvi G3 2017-2020 or older and other P2 car
Performance wise I think is acceptable too (it does support up to 720p H.264 playback and has Apple MFI certificate)

However, the only drawback is the ori HU doesn't have AA or CP and only comes with Perodua Smartlink which is too bad and unstable .
Ori HU doesn't have built in navigation too like previous P2 WINCE headunit which makes it impossible to sideload Autokit app to sd card and use AA or CP

** The reason that didn't change to others are Android HU (laggy + unstable) and Japan brand, Pioneer and Sony (too expensive), and also warranty

Does anyone know how to jailbreak or sideload the ori HU for running Android Auto or Apple CarPlay like MazdaTweak ???

Ya but Android HU are too many. Price from RM200 to 2000. Some of it are really good but others are just laggy cheap electronic rubbish.

Moreover android HU can't use the ori USB and HDMI ports which kind of waste.

how do you make comparison from 200 to 2000, any link or review website, always see advertised as 4xx to 8xx but hard to compare also.

compare and test before buying. wont need to go to 2000. few hundred bucks already have quite decent and better than Betamak one.
many can still use back USB and HDMI port. can be connected.

For me, I am not sure but mostly just look on the specs of the HU.
Most of the HU uses RK or allwinner chip and different volume of RAM. Those specs are like android TV box or tablet. So, you can imagine how's the performance will be like based on its SoC and RAM.

Some of the firmware is loaded with Google Play and GMS too which is too heavy and useless for a HU (at least for me). While, low end HU comes with bloatware and lousy UI which makes the whole system very bad.

I saw Lazada, Shopee can get cheap android HU like T3L or xxx china made HU for 200++ .

If possible, i still prefer the ori HU with AA or CP lah 🤣 but anyway thanks for your reply and suggestions.

Any HU recommendations that support those USB and HDMI port with Ativa ? Will consider it 😉

Japan Raize HU using floating screen from Pioneer with AA and CP but others like Singapore specs are just 2 din HU with casing.

Indonesia specs seems like floating screen too ( not sure about the manufacturer)

IMO, as got AA and CP with floating screen, definitely better than Betamek

buy pnp socket and casing for android player, keep original player, casing and socket wiring in case warranty claim

nowadays rm5xx android player come with carplay / AA wireless, sim card adapter. better than wired carplay / AA

even better, ive bought from shopee android 9" player which is using OLED display and running Tyes CC3 firmware for RM 738. spec is 3GB RAM 32GB memory octa core, 4G modem, GPS, Dual Band WiFi

Just figure out that the HU will come out mouse cursor if you plug in mouse and keyboard when booting into startup.

It will freeze the menu and turn into blank screen just the mouse cursor moving.

Seems like Betamek also claim that this HU support AA and CP. Just Perodua disable it

Does anyone remember how to access the service menu?

Mine just change to aftermarket player a month after i bought the car. Nowadays these players are cheaper than a phone. With Android Auto wireless.

Is anyone willing to share how to get to the service menu?
I see there is a host and device mode. Thinking that maybe I can put it into device mode and start
probing the Linux file structure and even make a dump of the OS.

Anyone tried carlinkit box? Any specific device that can turn it to android auto?

I actually tried to connect the HU with my laptop through USB male to male. The Device Manager was detecting something but there is no driver to control the HU (maybe like ADB or something missing)

Tried plugging into the front USB port with OTG on device mode instead of host. Got nothing interesting.
Suspect that the USB port is not the one on the front but via a debug pad or unsoldered USB port that is used for testing and loading in the factory.

Unfortunately, I don't have an extra head unit. Perhaps when I change mine to a 3rd party Eonon head unit, I'll take the stock one and hook it up to a power supply and reverse it. Not sure when I'll change mine.

I tried to look for TTL or any serial port on the mainboard but also no result....

However, I saw someone on Github using USB Ethernet adapter to establish ssh server with Linux HU and gain root access.
If you have USB Ethernet Adapter, maybe you can try and see...

Unfortunately, this does not work with my Ugreen ethernet adapter. Probably due to lack of any kind of LAN driver in the firmware.

I aware this is an old post. I bumped into this when i was troubleshooting my ativa headunit. The headunit was not able to fully booting up and stucked at perodua logo splash screen.
I can't help but noticing perodua is using a commercial grade nand flash TC58NVG2S0HTA00 in their headunit design. That nand chips has an operating temperature in the range of 0 -70C only.
No wonder the headunit has issue in our blazing hot year long summer weather.

Btw, anyone has an image dump for the nand flash?

Whoever wanna try Android on the ori HU should take a look at Ottocast P3 ai box, it has HDMI output which can project the Android system onto Ativa's infotainment screen. But first you need to have a video bypass cable.

And also need a BT remote for the Ottocast P3 so that you can navigate thru the Android system. Alternatively, install Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse app, use your hp as the touch pad and keyboard to navigate thru the menu.

I have seen few of these in shopee and all of them requires built in wired carplay function to work.

You tested in Ativa?

No, but tested it on desktop screen via HDMI and it works. Plugged it into TV via HDMI also worked

If you are talking about seeing similar ai box in shopee, do make sure get one that supports HDMI output.

So far I know only 2 in the market, Ottocast P3 and Carlinjit uhd.

May I know what is the Bluetooth version in the stock Ativa HU?

I saw some users have song info projected onto the Bluetooth Music..
