Hi guys!
I have recently acquired a single storey house of 42 years old. I wish to convert it to a double storey and was wondering if the house needs pile work? My thanks in advance!

QUOTE(random.heart @ Jul 8 2022, 05:51 PM) Hi guys! I have recently acquired a single storey house of 42 years old. If not, it's safer to do new foundation as the original structure may not have been designed/built to carry up additional floor load. Also is it existing link house or semi D house, if yes then not advisable to do piling but other type of foundation as piling will risk cracking adjacent neighbour's house. Usually the local authorities such as Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya won't approve adding another storey to existing houses ...
