i went to LS Music in Alamanda yesterday... had 2.5 grand cash in my wallet... and i saw yamaha LL6... listed a little above 2 grand...

waited for a while and no sales person greeted me... maybe cause i was wearing cargo pants, t-shirt and slippers... or maybe they were busy...

picked up the LL6... i can see it's built pretty good... canadian spruce top i think... the grains are much finer... the neck looks like 3 piece mahogany-rosewood-mahogany.... i was highly interested...

until...

the sales person came in and said "abang jaga2 sket gitar tu jangan bagi langgar dinding" then went off...

i'm going off to LS music at ampang point later this week... the sales person there was much more helpfull when i bought my bass guitar...

or maybe i'll check out that timothy s7...

Added on October 3, 2007, 6:04 pmhmm... the timothy S7 has a mahogany top... i've never played acoustics with mahogany top... how does it fair compared to spruce tops?

i would say it will be a little more warmer on the mahogany and less bright compared to spruce...

btw, stay away from Baby Taylor. 2 of my friends who got it had complained about the bad body construction. Seems like the bridge is popping out and the frets are not done properly. Both took it back to the shop and got it replaced with a higher end model. They topped up of course..

the bridge lifts after few months of playing. The frets pula, few of them were not set properly. Friend was wonder why there's a buzzing sound everytime he strums, tune the truss rod but still sound the same. Sent to a guitar luthier to check and he told them to send it back to the shop to get it replaced.

actually for the price they paid for the baby t, it would've been a better choice if they went for takamine..

got my yamaha llx-6.... around 2k...

i know... it's not a takamine... nor a taylor... but i guess yamaha's have been good to me....

am quite satisfied with it til right now... set up is ok... sound is good enough... the piezo preamp is a bit too bright though and there's only the phone jack... no knobs to tweak the eq.. i guess they wanted to avoid cutting a whole in the body to maintain the sound... which to me works just fine... i'm running it through the podxt and it's sounds pretty decent...

will post pics later...

adios muchachos...

Wow..congrats. If Dave Navarro has a signature model build after the model I doubt it will be any bad at all. Waiting for the photos..
