RM2,200/table is not even a lot... its the basic package in most hotels/restaurants.
The couple got the wrong mindset already, you invite people to share the joy of the event, not to make money off your guests. You also choose a nice place to impress people, why should they pay for your ego? Any amount you get from the ang bao is a bonus, you should not expect a single cent.
Only the wannabes behave like this. The true helangs will straight up say "No gifts / ang bao" then you go to the dinner it is super lavish (lobsters, caviar, abalone, etc) with table side serving. "I'm so rich, I can belanja you all this level", that is how to properly flex.
