Hi Guys,

Long story short, my HU need an upgrade with feature needed

1. CD-R compatibality
2. MP3
3. USB flash (must support HDD)

There are 3 player that met above criteria (but only Kenwood support HDD)

1. Kenwood KDC-MP436U

2. Sony Cdx Gt460

3. JVC KD-G635

http://www.jvc-australia.com/JVC/client/c_...D=27&prodID=235

Currenly in my setup

1. Parametric Pre Amp (Caliber 220)
2. 2 sets 450W amp
3. Rottweiler 6" component
4. Polk MOMO 10" Sub

I prefer the Kenwood, but only Brothers has it... my local shop only has the Sony

Which is recommeded??

Need answer by tommorow, as Im shopping a new HU .

FYI, currenlty my setup doesnt work due to the HU shorted the Pre AMP. Im not sure the Pre AMP gonna function anymore.

Well, I only try Kenwood KDC 4036U, so no much comment on other HU.

1. CD-R compatibality - tested with all CDR I burn (perhaps the CD reader is still new & perfect). All run well without skiping except some old & poor quality CDR.)
2. MP3 ( work with all my mp3 , wma, wav(only Kenwood that support, good if you look for something better sound quality than mp3)
3. USB flash (must support HDD) tested with lots old, new, 1.0,2.0 USB flash drive , from 128MB to 8GB. also try with some hardisk based mp3 , and all work flawlessly. Never try with ext hardisk before.

Shop at PJ?,autogadget, KF Audio & KK Lau would be recommended, they price are "reasonaly" for its quality of service & workmanship. smile.gif But not sure they opne at sunday.

If you dont mind travel your way to Sri Kembangan , Serdang to look for howiechoo(Automotive Genesis Car Audio & Performance Center)

they open for sunday. and their workmanship is no bad, they selling Kenwood KDC-MP4036U as well.

while having an USB input for playing MP3 is the best way to get all your songs into the car, it create another problem. too much songs that you will have problem in locating few songs that you want to listen at that time. my thumbdrive only got 40 songs inside but already give me headache in just finding one song. and you want to use HDD, imagine you got 1K plus songs inside, and you were looking for one particular song. how? hmm.gif

for such player i believe the most important is the player capable of playing songs by folder so you can organize it to your taste. or you should look for HU that can play VCD/DVD and buy a monitor so it will be more easier to look for particular song. my HU is with DVD and planning to get a monitor so can settle the looking for a song problem. icon_idea.gif

nameless, thx for the input

i went to KK Lau but other shops were closed today. Anyway, those shops cater for 'high-end' soundsystem i.e HU >RM900

I ended up buying the Sony from Brothers and had it installed at my local auto shop. great price with 1gb sony thumbdrive.

Honestly the sound is much clearer and cleaner than my previous JVC (KD S585)
