Hi ICE lovers

Can someone give me sone advice - Saw these two models at Brothers KJ recently - I drive an old Camry with two pioneer tweeters and two door panel OEM speakers in front and the rear OEM 3 way speakers - may I know which model is suitable to music listening eg instrumental and not the trance hip hop bassy type.

For OEM speaker I think both wouldn't make much different. I'm using Kenwood KDC 4036U, it was pretty good handling , my 6X9 2 way & front component set without an amp. For better instrumental listening, can consider speaker upgrade, please don't go for those cheapo speaker or Sony, pioneer imitations, you get what you pay for.

Bro, Avoid Brxthers at all costs, even they price is cheap but these guy installation skill suck, they miss wiring the rear & front with left & right. and the handle your car parts & component very rough, works like a novice. mad.gif
I bet you can find other shop with about same price & much better quality of workmanship.

Thanks nameless

I was there trying out the 4036U and the JVC 725 and sounds like the JVC was clearer ( less bassy). The salesman explained that it was because the 6x9 speakers with the JVC was a 4-way while the one with the 4036U was a 3-way.

How much did you buy the 4036U and when - just to compare with the current promotion price with 1GB usb drive

The 4036U on offer now is RM528 with the Thumb - while the JVC 725 is RM558 I believe

That why I believe the upgrade the speaker will give more improvement of sound quality. But USB features is great for both player, I plug in 8Gb thumbs drive then ready to ROCK ! thumbup.gif now no more CD swapping or shock skipping.
I cant remember the exact figure, but around RM570 few month agos with 1Gb USB.

Just checking one last time with you - I was told that the 4036U can remember the last track played on the USB - thats fine - but by your experience could you select the track number 150 without pressing the the forward button - and secondly, could you save your mp3 files in separately named folders and view / select the folders or can they only be saved in one thumb with a long list of mp3 files for selection

Thanks - once you provide info on this - I may base my decision on it

Yes, you can select a track by key in the number with remote controller. And file/track list is seperated by folder, you can browse folder by folder and view inside track by track.
Normally I organize my song in folders( such as album by album) and I just jump from folder to another, then goto the track I want or listen the whole album.

Limitation :
-Chinese, unicode character cant display ( dot matrix how to display sweat.gif ) ,
-file name, tag's track name, artist, album cannot longer than 30 character(not too sure but should be around 30) or it will show blank.
-remote control is bulky and big

Another things, don't put too many other/non music files in the USB drive, It will take more time to scan through the whole drive. If you must, zipped all it into 1 file.

More "way" doesn't alway make sound clearer or better.
Component System/set with 2 woofers, 2 tweeters, and 2 external crossovers generally give better sound than coaxial, or 2/3-way speaker.
Forget about Brxthers, you got more better choice of speaker than Brxthers brand or immitation speaker in other acc shop out there.
you can join this forum to know more before you decide.

Hi nameless

Thanks for the info - went to Brithers and got the 4036U this morning - went to an accessories shop near my house and fixed it for RM 25 - just a matter of taking out the old HU, rewiring the cables and voila sweet sounds - only one thing - where is the loudness option btw - did not read the manual yet

But very nice SQ compared to the monotonic SQ I had to bear with the MP3 modulator for several months after the changer konked
