if the car is less than 3 years old, ask for their maintenance booklet.
it's it most important part imho
and also check if got accident before or not.. check carpet whether got water mark.. check the rubber on door panel and car boot, peel it out and see... check for rust.
new but price is very cheap might be because the car had flooded before.. becarefull with this.

QUOTE(Fasap @ Oct 8 2007, 12:23 PM)
Not really.. as some say the difference btwn paying for a new CT and a 2nd CT is around 100-200.. to some people this might be not much, but for other groups of people, 100-200 is so much needed to ease off other burdens each month(children, health, etc). If youre a young bachelor owning 2K++ who lives with your parents and got no other commitments in life other than partying and hangging out wit friends, 800-900 a month wont be a bother to you...

Some people also want to at least use a decent quality car, a one worth putting your hard earned money into, rather than cheap new cars that lack safety, comfort, build quality... even if they have to go buy 2nd hand ones. Even some old 2nd hand cars are far much better and need much less maintanence than a few new cars... imho. its not that i say a CT has top notch quality, but when compared, even a 2003 CT has a more comfortable interior that a brand New Hyundai Getz for the same price.
whoaa! a 2005 Vtec for 56500?? nice catch bro.. really hard to find that kinda deal. The dealer/owner desperate ka? damn nice. the actual 2nd hand market price for such car is much higher around 65K rite? you saved nearly 10K.  rclxms.gif

yeah, ive double chked with some other car dealers, and their processing fees and such came back the same, more or less.. i think that's the only way car 2nd hand car dealers can survive with the current market today..

the best way to avoid this is to settle loan on your own.. ah well..
*
oh shit.. it's 66 500...not 56k tongue.gif
i'll edit it now.. hahaha

eh.. if put on S-gear, need to apply break frequently or not?
Or you use S-gear with manual mode to lower gear?

hmm.. actually city does have it's own disadvantage.. but nobody mention it before.
i drove city for half year already, and city is not really as good as my expectation.
this is the first expansive car that my family had, previously was a problematic corolla, then iswara, then kelisa...
before i get this city, i had high expectation for it.
once driven it on highway and everyday to work, i found some disappointment:
- wind noise are poor when reach 90 km/h. i expect no wind noise up to 110 km/h or even higher
- pick up from 0 are rather slow compared to kelisa, unless i press hard on the accelerator or changing gear
- the sound from closing door is almost similar like closing a proton iswara door

anyway, i'm still a proud owner of a city laugh.gif
it's way better than all the previous cars that my family had owned.

- cant comment on the wind noise tho coz b4 this i was driving daily a charade espree > kancil > kelisa, then city... when i drove the ct for the 1st time i was like.. omg.. so quiet one... but yea, when u reach abt 120 i hear heavy wind noise, but at 90.. hmm.. maybe its not air.. maybe your tyre bearings are out..?

-i presume ure kelisa is also auto? imho.. its because of the weight of the CT compared to the kelisa, weight to engine ratio maybe smaller for the kelisa to the CT.. thats why motorbikes zoom faster at traffic lites also rite? anyways there is a way where you can out-accelerate your city way past even a manual car at a stop go situation (i.e traffic lites etc).  when your at a full stop, go in s-mode, then turn on the 7-speed and shift down to put in manual mode, i.e gear 1. after trafic lite is green, push the pedal until acc to 5.5kRPMS and disengage 7speed mode to enter S-mode. the high rev of the 1st gear will get you moving real fast. Take note that you must disengage the 7speed before it reaches the redline at 5.8kRPMs, if u dont the 1st gear will go in to 2nd and you loose momentum. If you do it right, you will maintain the 5kRPM, and you feel a boost like nos (tongue.gif).. seriously ive tried it plenty of times.. and its damn great  thumbup.gif

-This one i have to agree.. the door seems a little rough.. you need quite some force to shut it..  the proton neo has a nice door closing feeling.. far better than the CT.
*
start from 90 km/h you can listen to the wind noise edi. not loud, but very soft noise.
the engine is quite, this is damn good.
but the wind noise is very significant once above 100km/h

yes, the kelisa is an auto. i can feel the power once i step on the accelerator.
for city, have to change to S in order to feel the ommphhh
i don't really play with the gear, i bought mine 2nd hand. warranty until next year Feb.
gearbox rosak then i can sell the car edi shakehead.gif
so, have to be gentle with it and not simply abuse it if not provoked

QUOTE(cooler123 @ Oct 26 2007, 11:27 AM)
lol, your family car all proton and p2 ah.
*
lol.. first car is the problematic toyota corolla.. after sell that toyota, then bought iswara. iswara had serve me well for 13 years. then buy kelisa, then sell iswara for city thumbup.gif

hi neato4u, can describe your car's jerking situation?
is it on constant highspeed then it jerks?

mine does jerk as well, during low speed D mode then press hard on the accelerator.

another issue, when i turn the steering max to the left/ right and move, got some weird sound, like the wheel is on sand stretching sound. anyone got this issue? is it something wrong?

can ask SA do full car checkup? like human doing full body checkup tongue.gif
warranty until next year Feb, hope can detect any parts failure before that.

40k service is the major service where they changed quite a number of parts compared to your other regular interval services.

spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, CVTF etc etc

forgotten liow. I claimed my 40k items before my warranty was over.

My car April 2004. Car mileage now is 47K.  tongue.gif

SInce tis honda city forum, I need some advice from u all. I going to buy a car either new 1 or second hand 1. but my budget can be around 55k. So what i'm thinking is should i buy a 4 yrs old Honda city than a new myvi??
*
city and myvi is in different range...
if you need a large boot space car, then i would suggest 2nd hand city.
if you don't need that much space, buy a new myvi. save your hassle.

if you're comparing persona with city then it's different story.
same category, larger engine capacity, same price for a new car.
i have never test drive it, perhaps you should if you're aiming for 2nd hand city.
no harm trying a few more cars right?

stev, remember the RPM does control ur FC  icon_rolleyes.gif

try drive as gentle as u can, maintain low RPM u'll c the different
*
low rpm doesn't meant that you'll get better FC
drive with the right gear at the right speed.
you can manually use 7th gear and start from 0 if you like, confirm low rpm (and car can't move)
drive at the right speed. constant at 90km/h has better FC than constant 80km/h with the same distance.

i made some inquiries to the honda sc about the door visor, he told me after install that visor will get noisier wind noise rclxub.gif
then i decided not to install it anymore.
anyone here installed the visor and get lower wind noise?

If budget really an issue and before going for 2nd hand car, please do remember the cost of legal fees, road tax, insurance, JPJ, some minor touchup.... all these "might not" be loan-able. So taking a 60k value city, u may need 8k - 10k cash for it. + No free maintenance for 2 years + risk of getting a poor condition car + higher interest...
*
don't have 8k that much.. my car value is at 65k, total value i paid including insurance is less than 70k.
So, it's in the range of 4k to 5k.

yea, higher interest rates and no free maintenance. but honda service is not that expensive. normal service is less than RM200.
just look around carefully to find a good condition car and bring someone with experience to check the car.
those with experienced, once they see they'll know got accident before or not.
careful with flooded car as well...
