First you can check at TNB website. They have their list of certified contractors. I used one from their website. I chose the 5 star one though xD

Roughly RM5k for the new TNB board, submission etc. Not inclusive if you need to pull new wiring from TNB pole, nearest pole, or new pole in front of your house. And also if your DB is 3phase ready or not, if its still single phase need to change to 3 phase board also, additional charges all there. A new pole I heard was roughly RM5k also.

My guy charged me RM500 for the TNB guys to go over and check and quote. It'll take time though.. My guy said need wait a few months. lol Rm1k a bit pricey though. But usually they need to go over and check/inspect before giving a quote, better get a few different quotes to confirm and compare prices.

I did mine last year when I renovate and also did rewiring for the entire terrace house. In this case I used my electrical contractor. However, as my contractor is not under TNB panel, then he will arrange for a "TNB runner" to submit the application & liaise with TNB regarding this.

Indicative Cost:
1) 3-phase meter board with 3x 63A cut-out fuse & neutral connector : RM900

2) TNB runner fee : RM1,100

3) TNB connection fee : RM300 (for terrace house, tap directly from the supply line running across the row of houses, this should be what you need to pay. Expect to pay more if require relocation of cables, pulling new cables from pole, or even erecting poles)

4) 3-phase Distributiion Box (DB) with Main Switch MCB, RCCB & set of MCBs (the cost varies depending on brand, size, and whether you will have more than 1 DB) - in my case RM1,800 (rather huge 4-row DB)

Rewiring is not required as your electrician is supposed to do load-balancing by assigning circuits to the 3 phases (red, yellow, blue phases) - e.g. if you have 6 air-conds, ideally 2 air-conds on each phase, same goes for lighting points, water heater, sockets, etc. Get your electrician to quote you as there may be manpower charges for this.

However, if you plan to rewire the entire house, expect to spend an additional RM10,000 or more, depending on the number of points you wish to have.

In my case, the process took around a month.

No. 3 is owned by you, hence your contractor would have included this in the cost you need to pay to him

No. 4 is actually owned by TNB, but you need to pay for this as well, from my understanding. Not sure if this has been included in your charges for No. 2.

Hi everyone, can share which contractor you used in the end for 3 phase upgrade process? I would like to reach out to them for my home project.

The TNB list of contractors is not helpful as some say do projects only and some never reply. The system doesn't work.

Curious did Kineta do the upgrade to 3 phase? Or did TNB contractor do the upgrade then Kineta only did the charger installation?

Hi, mind to PM me your TNB contractor?

I search in TNB but was forwarded a lot of contractors from ST. Then when I call some of them, they are like blur and not sure what is your work scope.

Hi, can you share with me your electrical man. Prefer one dragon service instead of different people doing it. Besides that, called most of TNB listing, they are not interested in small project. Thanks 🙏
