Is it worth sending it in for repair? I just worry the repair cost will be more than the watch.

I very seldom wear it as I already have a daily wear smart watch

It'll cost abit to send it to service. but seiko 5 aren't that accurate from the start either.

If you just eat at home for a month, enough for the repairs ady

Also get rachel/christy to get an apple watch for you, or at very least a huashiat one

RM300 for repairs?

But my watch cost only RM270. sad.gif

Do it only if you have the back case opener tool

The speed adjustment is really simple.

But I don't have the tools to DIY. sad.gif

after tuning, are you going to wear it frequently or not, if not, then no point la.  besides, since it is an old watch, might need spring lube too, i done that not long ago b4 MCO for rm45
*
That service cost is reasonable. I'll check with some of the watch shops.

Seiko 5 used no value one
Used sell maybe get 100-150
But if rosak only shop take for parts
Buy new la
*
No parts inside are broken.

It just needs speed adjustment to slow it down a little.

Maybe it also needs lubrication service after 15 years.

out of the freaking blue, terlimpas old kedai, its the old rolex distributor, but the ah pek buat repair works, he left his anak do sales.

He terkejut la my watch tun fast, on a very old timegrapher that plots chart on real paper. Ada jatuh or bang something kot. So full service and all, rm200-300. On saja

The watch went through hell, halfway round the world, jumping, racine, kayaking semua hantam

Thank God it is a Seiko and not a Rolex

It is not cheap.

Overpriced due to high demand?

see also don't dare to open/touch inside, later everything flies out and game over.

I open the mortise lock, so big also, spring and everything pop out.
This watch, if accidentally pop out all the things inside, can throw already, especially when the small little thing ends up everywhere under the chair/sofa/table/cabinet.
*
Better leave all these to the watch repairers.

I don't dare to mess around with watch innards.

the seiko 7s26 is a simple and cheap movement. i suggest to buy the tools to DIY rather than send to shop. you can get the tools on shopee and dont cost much. back case opener should be less than rm20. small screwdriver probably just rm2.

but before you do any of that, you might want to just wind it up properly. most of the time, its slow simply because it doesnt have enough energy.
*
As stated in my thread title, my Seiko is gaining 2 minutes per day, so your assumption is incorrect.

And it is an automatic, not a manual winding watch

If you want to keep the watch in tip top condition for sentimental reason, get it serviced, not repair as its not faulty or broken. They can adjust the speed, clean and lubricate it as well as replacing the gasket seals.

Else just keep it as it is somewhere in the watch drawer.
meanwhile at NRT, ppl talk about buying lolex watches....
