I just bought a Honda adv 150 and need additional storage. Requirements:
Can store 1 full face helmet of passenger.
Will use it to fill groceries most of the time.
If got back rest, better but I can just buy the one which can stick on it.

Which rack and box to get? Plastic or alloy? What size?

What rack?

QUOTE(nyt3s @ May 31 2022, 09:37 AM)
I'm using Givi's SRV-ADV150 rack coupled with plastic E43NTL-ADV Box.

Where you bought? Rack can support how many kg?

Been using that box on my Honda PCX since 2018. Can't imagine settling for something else, could have been disastrous (if smaller than the 43 litre one).

Why disastrous?

Where to buy?

I found this. Fake aluminium box. ABS box that kinda looks like aluminium. Cons of aluminium box is that it is heavy. ABS box much lighter. If you see top rack from givi, swomotech etc most will state weight limit of 3kg/5kg/10kg including case&luggage. So most box alone will be close or exceed the rated weight. In actuality ihe rack can handle more but they absolve any responsibility if the rack breaks under load.

Just wondering, is there a pillion bag (like this food panda bag) which can be locked and secure on the pillion seat?

I only need to use it from time to time. So not sure want full top box.

Food panda bag are huge. Most bikers use tail bag. Small bag strapped to the pillion seat. It goes as large as to fit a helmet.

Myself I use givi tank lock system and they do sell pillion seat adaptor to put your bag on the seat. Their bags are mighty expensive. So I made myself the adaptor and bigger bag from parts from aliexpress.

Givi seatlock

I see. So sacrifice passenger space. Is there an easy clip on/off kind of top box? Maybe shad?

Most branded top box are easy to clip on and off. I have been known to bring my top box into my hotel room.

Sorry to hijack thread, but I am contemplating getting a box for my ADV as well. Other than the 43L box already mentioned above, are there any smaller Givi top boxes that can fit a full face helmet?

My concern is mainly the added drag of the larger box and if it will affect highway speed travel. So I plan to look for as small a box as possible that can fit my HJC CS15.

Tell me what you get, with which rack as well.

Indeed, alu boxes are heavy. But they do look good on a more "rugged" looking bike like the 150ADV. But I still prefer the cheaper givi monolock cases because they are much easier to take on or off.

And most rear racks only have a load rating of 10kg. So it is almost impossible not to exceed that weight.

If choosing a rack, find those with additional braces that mount to the rearsets. At least they have 2 additional points to support the load. Almost everyone i know with a tail rack that only mounts to the grab handle mounts eventually bend all the mounting bolts.

For the 150ADV, the more angular Antartica 42L box looks more suitable and really cheap. I bought mine from shopee for 240bux. The 43NTL ADV is wider and bigger. But also much more expensive. There is this new B45 top case that is supposely cheaper than the 43NTL.
They do make tail racks for you to fit a grabfood bag. Its fairly unsightly and ghetto though.
On a sidenote, does anyone know who sell givi 3 pcs replacement locksets? I just want to change my panniers and topbox to use the same key.

The problem with big topbox for 2 helmet is that the ADV rack is not suitable for the amount of weight. Shad makes 10kg, Givi only makes 5 kg. Though I would not want the top box to be heavy, alloy, since that is weight without the contents. Once you get 43L box, tempting to put cargo like 10 kg rice in there since there is space and then people will forget that it is rated up to 10kg including the box. I was thinking somewhere along the 32L adventure or 34L monoblock box.

What rack are you currently using for your top box (which model)?

Sorry to hijack this tered, but anybody used shad 58x/59x? Plan to store helmet and if possible riding jacket since I don't want to go into office wearing jacket like some bigshot rider. Lol.

Was looking at Shad as well. Rack has 10kg rating. Givi only 5 kg.

My concern is more towards the width of it, since will be installed on my daily bike, and not really a big fan of panniers. Lol. Currently no top box or rack on the bike.

Then something that can just fit 1 helmet is enough then.

Not sure if TS still here but just updating: my ADV150 has had the SRV rack and B32N Bold box installed for about a month now.

Installation process was supposed to be simple but there were issues with the screw hole alignment; one of the four holes in the rack would not align with the screw hole in the bike frame. I had to bring it to a Givi Specialist center to have it modded (they cut a bit to make the hole in the rack slightly bigger) and now no issues.

All in all quite convenient having this box around and I believe it is worth the trouble. Just have to keep in mind the ~3kg weight limit cause the rack can only hold a max of 5kg, while the box itself + the plastic part of the rack is about 2kg already.  sweat.gif

EDIT: Forgot to mention that yes, the B32N does fit a full face helmet but I think ones with larger shells might not apply. That being said I use a HJC CS-15 and a HJC RPHA MAX Evo both with XL shell size and they both fit. So do make sure to get helmet measurements first.

I bought the src v3 rack and the givi b33nm box. Like you said, installation was tricky. I just brought everything to the tyre shop in front of my house and let them unbox and fix everything up for the free. A regular at the shop. Src quotes 20 Kg weight limit.

Looking at the SRC rack, this seems to be the type like the Givi SRV where you have to put the factory grab handles on top of the rack before screwing it in. That is the most likely cause for the misalignment issues since the manufacturer would have to make 3 holes line up (the one in the grab handle, the one in the rack and the one in the frame) before the screw can be inserted properly.

I did see a Thai made rack on Shopee for around RM 360 which was both tubular steel but also replaced the stock grab handles. That would be much easier to install since you just put the washer on and screw it directly into the frame.

Hope to know how well the 33 liter box serves your needs. I would have bought it as well but I saw a good deal for the 32L one.

the SRCv3 handlebars replaced the original ADV150 handlebars with good (more room) to spare. More space to put fingers below, near body compared to the stock ones. The rack did cost RM600+ though. The 33L givi box, I bought for RM200 with shipping. I did shop around but I found that the ADV box models or with backrest or popular models were quite expensive for the size. I have to spend a lot more for bigger size or popular boxes. in the end, I just want a box to put helmet/groceries in it. Too big and will look weird. Was aiming for the Shad with the brake light as well. A bit expensive. Also, I only use my motorcycle in kampung/groceries. Not really a lot.
