eh would wait and see on the overclockability of those procs

those who remember when the c2d came out
they were boasting that the x6800 on stock vcore can do 3.4-3.6ghz so easily
reality wasnt so true...

so will be on a wait and see position

Is the E8400 worthy of a purchase now? Seriously considering this after CNY instead of waiting for the Q9450..
*
ppl dont forget the multi...

u need atleast 9...for general ability to reach 4ghz.

kekeke..

therefore u most probably have a better chance of hitting 4 with 9550.

but 9550 cost about Rm1.8k ++ just to get 0.5 increament of multiplier lol
*
oo dude

i think u better start playing with quads

its rare to get a quad that can hit higher than 460fsb that is stable
also if it tops out anywhere around 475-500 fsb benchable that means some ridiculous voltages on ure fsb termination/northbridge.

*
no point

proven last time
low voltages and best preformance for overclocking is at fsb 8/9

but up to u ..
so far havent seen any impressive 8500 yet...

i'm begining to change my mine from quad to duo....
wats the max for your E8400?...
i hate low X multi....
looks like E84 E85 is my only option within acceptable budget...
*
with my rams maxed at 460mhz = 920mhz...

waiting for my teams to come back home...

i can do 4.14v at 1.29v rock solid stable

i cannot push my rams any further..
currently using my backup rams OCZ Gold PC2-6400 CL5.

i did try 465x9=4.185 at 1.3v.. cpu was stable but rams crashed at 2.2v

so results inconclusive. same as 9x500 = 4.5v at 1.4v.. cpu stable but rams crashed
at 500mhz 5-6-6-18 2.35v...

oh yeah the maximus mobo ... for this proc u dont need to even raise any pll/northbridge or fsb termination voltages right up to 475fsb...
thats y this is the ultimate x38 and the only one that supports 1600fsb at stock pll/northbridge/fsb termination voltages...

dont bother getting the dfi..

get the maximus or p5e.

What's the most stable settings? 4.5Ghz might be only benchable and not stable for daily usage.
*
that is the stable setting 4.5

benching.. i cant go any further..
cause NB too hot..
NB and PLL at 1.8v.

if i wanted to bench i can lower the vcore to around 1.4 would do.

err thats i posted the task manager..
just to show u that this is running 24/7

it passed my normal stability test which is
sp32m for bus/rams.
OCCT for PLL/vcore
3dmark06 3 times per program for overall performance.
Prime 95.. dual on each core for cache and vcore stability - 15 minutes
Everest stress test.. for 1 hour..
Everest Sinjulia/Julia benchmark..

i always post stable results..
this is not done via setfsb..

thats y u see the sandra score is so high.. cause this is stable result and not some Kami result.

better change to dty ive first kot?? rclxms.gif
*
no need.
if i was serious about 20 k..
just need to go to diagnostic mode..
download ati tray tools
and mess with the 3d settings.

that would have been 20k..

i dunno y this batch from cycom really good Q746a334.

stock voltage 1.15v already can oc to 3.6ghz stable.
4.1ghz at 1.304v stable...

but after 500fsb.. a bit tough on NB.

yo cstkl1, able push up to 4.7Ghz ? with over 500mhz bus.
*
NB.. i need to water cool it..

dude.. i think u dont have seen a x38..

when u put 2 cards...and run sli.. the NB gets very hot.
same with 680 mobos.. when u run sli ure NB temps will jump.

*
errr not for iphone..

but generally it does..
but i think it depends on luck

a lot of posting on retail is the same week as mine..
but they all can do different results
some can do 590fsb but oc not so good.
so mix results..

but as far as i know the e8400 rulez over the e8500 on current batches.

but generally looking at XS results most ppl can do 4ghz from 1.28 to 1.3v on the Q76A batch.

wahhhhh!!!! drool.gif  drool.gif
really??
i thought dat 8500 can OC higher cuz it has .5 multiplier??
i must stick with 8400 then.... notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif
*
dude depends..

say like the predicament i am in..
the NB is too hot..
so i cant go further on increasing the bus speed..
since heat is still not an isue and i have at easlt 15-20C head room..
so the E8500 is apealing
but what i meant on the e8400.. it seems to use less vcore to hit 4ghz..
most of the e8500 are doing 1.35v.. at 4

oh yeah this is not a bench rig..
its in the casing downloading my torrents rig..
hmm i think u can see the utorrent running on the 3dmark05.. downloading chuck, sarah conner chronicles and bleach...

your E8400 running coolit freezeone currently ?

your maximus formula se NB ready for water cooling right.
keke...find someone w/c and run it . drool.gif
*
not yet..
i am still changing mobos etc..

want to see how the new x48 preform let me show u something

this is in a aircon room.. around so temp in m room is around 26 at the moment..
and i off the FM123 fan that is blasting on the NB..
here is the temp at stock voltages for NB/PLL/FSB termination see the time and date..

this is how hot x38 gets when u run crossfire.
[attachmentid=386442]
at the 4.5ghz without the FM123.. temps will be more than 70 and with that fan bringing down to 50+.

oh yeah this is the other thing i have been saying the P5e and this mobo rocks..
almost all the proc i tested at stock nb/pll/fsb voltages..(lowest voltages) u can hit between 450-470fsb easy.

its the same pcb
the difference is

the led, heatsink, bios, the reset/power/clear cmos button.

thats it..

only thing is currently the p5e bios are not updated as much as the maximus...marketing??

hmm Q746A334 - Testing stability...

so far 1.15v for 3.6ghz
1.26 for 4ghz
1.28 for 4.095

testing more..
oh yeah using everest cause speedfan doesnt work on X38 and OCCt cannot use the latest everest 4.2 readings..u get partial and i cant monitor the vcore to find out whether there was a droop to show instability.

will be selling this proc soon...
hope u guys who get the new batch can do as good as this or better...

wont be suprise if intel came out with a extreme 45nm proc 1600 fsb 4ghz..
[attachmentid=386991]

dude there is a typo on computer wars
its e6750/e8200

the price for e8400 is RM928..

get e8400 more overclockable unless you have a kick ass cooling on your proc. Hmm my overclock posting a bit premature. 1.28v can do 4.14.tested sp32m pass 3dm06 cpu test 3 times loop pass.prime 95 15mins pass.now must do everest 30

i have been asking around a lot of ppl in XS

all of them are nuts
running their NB and PLL 1.8v and above..
when i do that .. my temps on NB without the help of fm123 fan touches 70-80C!!!
with the FM123 will bring it down to 59-62C...

unless i do a bench rig... sorry dude.. aint gonna pump the pll/nb just to bench ..

Btw, you tried with 1 card but not CFX ?
Whats the nb temp with  1 card.
*
10C less its still too high.

QUOTE(hehee:) @ Jan 26 2008, 12:10 AM)
sorry bro , i dun mean it...cause i'm looking wat my rig are capable for..
if i get a Quad with 8x i'll need atleast 560fsb to do 4.5ghz....
i always get stuck at 465fsb with P35 DQ6 pair with E66 and Q66...tats all my worries..

otherwise i'll just get a E8400 tat comes 9x which is more easy to achieve 500fsb than 560fsb...
i'm talking bout 24/7 rig not benchie fancy stuff....
so... can you gimme a hand wats reasonable PLL/NB voltage to achieve highest sweet point FSB ...
*
???
errr just to point out something to u...

the 45nm to get 500fsb stable u need to overvolt ure pll and nb quite high...
so unless u have a watercool kick ass mobo.. sorry dude..
dq6 sux with so much droop..god only knows what ure real voltages are unless u measure them... and find a mod for them.

thats y only bench rigs are doing 500 fsb above...

the quads extreme easier.. they just keep increasing the multi and dont worry about the other voltages other than vcore..
nb/pll once in a while they increase to stabilize the ram...

take it like this .. the PC2-8000 = 1000mhz.. suppose to run around 8000mb/s.... and we're running it at 9.1-9.2...
so think about it.

As core architecture does not seem to increase much performance of very high fsb, if u want a record breaking result, just wait for higher multiplier processor. Or else go for Extreme Edition instead.
*
higher multis and extreme editions dont usually clock as well when it comes to vcore.
