Too many generic malls, thats why. 90% of the malls you visit look identical in terms of their tenants. Nothing new.

SP suffered from a fatal design flaw - the "mezzanine floor" ramps. Going to a shop is quite the challenge there if you dunno where to start in first place.

For example, if you wanna go to Dave Deli from World of Sports, you need to take the escalator to Starbucks at Level 1, then walk down the ramp and then turn right. Or you will need to take the escalator near Parkson there (which is quite a walk), then only reach the same floor as Dave Deli....

Subang Parade is a dying family mall and empire is a half baked lifestyle mall...

malls are still in demand but the right elements need to be there....

Just look at sunway pyramid.... all day... packed to the brim even during working days.... Public holidays and weekends... can't even find parking after 12pm...

the main element missing in SS16 is entertainment.... they need a bowling alley... an imax or some high end movie theater.. then more food places not just fast food... then shops that matters... by shops that matters... it would be high street fashion or somewhat branded and luxury goods.... not those parkson type bullshit where all these have transition to online selling....

people still like shopping in physical store if the goods are worth it.... if it is cheap brands .... it is easier to just buy it online..

Without any transport hub apart from a BRT ... sunway pyramid also can be so hot... imagine if SS16 developed like sunway.... with KTM + LRT + Skypark right in front.... fuhhhh... Subang Jaya station will be the hottest stop in the kelana jaya line...

Or the shop managed by the short-haired aunty at the IT centre?

Anyways, both also moved out. The former I'm not sure where but the latter moved to aeon next door more than a decade ago though im not sure if they survived mco. The aunty's shop, ck multimedia, used to sell on lowyat's marketplace too

yeah this, legendary PC shop. it has been there since Subang Parade open.

Yaohan is now Sunway Putra Mall.

The electronic store is still there, just moved directly opposite of Village Grocer. I had hoped many times that the management would revive the mall, but it's become more apparent that death is inevitable for them and closing down is just a matter of when.

This is my favourite design aspect about SP and it's still my favourite mall. Nice and airy, full of natural lighting. An unique design.
For this reason, they can't fit too many shops or people inside, but that's fine by me.

The main reason it's unpopular is its location. Very hard to access and not much place to park. Situated between two main road, whereas major malls have direct access from highway. Also not near any big office buildings. Plus, as others mentioned, not much reason to go as no cinema, bowling etc.

I don't know why ppl like to go crowded mall. Seems like the bigger mall the better. Unless got some unique shop there maybe got ppl visit. If Ikea open there sure got crowd.
Subang ppl where you go shopping? Don't forget the Summit....
