Hi,

I've used the Honda Future since 2013. Bought the high spec. front and rear brake disc. Nothing wrong with the motorcycle but my uncle wants to buy it. Only got about 9.4k km on ODO meter. I did put a RM5k selling price if he wants it. Hopefully he does not want it since I don't see the need to sell the motorcycle yet. If he does commit to it, thinking of replacing with a scooter as scooter has covered footwell. Go in puddles, foot still dry and usually scooter has big boot.

Usage has not changed since my previous motorcycle. Criteria:
1. Weekend/weekday use around house. Mostly to buy groceries. Sometimes bawa kids around Kg area. 9 years in and I only used like 9.4k km. So 1k+ km/year.
2. Easy to service/maintain.
3. Similar size to the Honda Future and has a big storage boot. I use the Honda future boot to put it lots of items bought at store. Also easy to park and ciluk in traffic jams.
4. 250cc and below. I have B2 license. Also don't want wet clutch or clutch motorcycle.
5. I don't plan to modify the scooter since I don't use it for daily commute. I also don't mind used since my low KM usage.
6. Price <RM20k.

Suggestions?

If not heavily use, i suggest avantiz. Honda vario seem good too. Nvx design good but too big and heavy for the engine cc.

Neighbour use Vario. Looks and features nice. Looks like a bit smaller than my current Honda future.

The compartment might be the same as future if think back. I just like the nice big leg room with my recommendation. I don't really fancy scooter with fairing in between your leg.

Vario compartment is 18L and Future compartment is 19L. ADV 150 is 28L

Since u have quite a big budget, I would suggest to go for Honda ADV150. Reasons being:

- the bike looks big due to its design, but it is actually quite compact. It is based from PCX150 frame & engine
- fuel tank is on the footwell, so u get extra storage undet your seat for your stuff
- it come with ABS (front) with disc brake for front & rear
- digital instrument cluster with a lot of information
- keyless start. No more messing with keys, just keep in your bag/pocket
- abundance of parts/accessories
- cheap roadtax rm2 only

The not-so-good part:
- at RM12K-RM13K price, it is quite expensive for a 150cc scooter. But is is very popular though, i still see so many people buying it
- i read that this scooter top speed is quite low, around 100-110 km/h only.
- footwell is not flat since the fuel tank is there
- it is an open secret that scooter maintenance is always higher than moped (belting, thick tyres)

For your budget, there are actually a lot of choices for scooter, even Modenas Elegan 250/WMoto250i is under RM20K. But those scooters are really big & heavy to use around town. Sensible option is to go for Honda/Yamaha as they are reputable brand & easier to source for parts. Easy to sell back too.

Thanks for the reply.

After comparing specwise, a natural upgrade from the future would be the ADV150. I was hoping Boon Siew sold the PCX160, but cannot find it. While modenas is very value for money, does not make sense for me. 195 kg kerb weight in town. My future is just like 100kg ADV like 120 kg.. ADV cons are almost similar to my Honda Future 125. Mine around 100 km. In town, I am ok with this speed. Very rarely can use all this speed.

Between the Nmax and NVX, it looks like the NVX has a lot more going for it... but more expensive?

Not sure if there are others though.

How's the markup? Last I checked most places selling at around 15 to 16k.

Seen it. Looks nice but closer inspection the materials are not as high quality as Honda. From spec also not impressive. Price is cheap though.
