I already asked them before. Looks like we have to convert the Malsings map to a format that MapThis can use.

ninja, where u buy the GPS?? i want to buy but can we use it to navigate in malaysia?

Bought mine at Lowyat Plaza. You can find a few shops in Sg.Wang selling the GPS also.

And, it can be use to navigate in Malaysia by using MapThis! homebrew with MSN Local Live maps, although it's not that detail. That's why I'm asking the people at Malsings whether we can convert their maps to MapThis format.

Just a question, my aunty has a portable GPS unit (not for PSP). It comes with MapKing. So, can I use that map, and copy to the PSP's GPS unit (or some sort like that)?

Well, I myself not sure how MapThis! works though (at least not yet seen). rclxub.gif

Nope, it does not work that way.. MapThis is using their own format. Maps was extracted from Google Maps and MSN Local Live maps and save as compressed GPSFS raster file format.

Ok, I can't copy. So, meaning that MapKing format is different from Mapthis!, right?

And also, MapThis! can only compresses some sort of map like Google/MSN Maps only and not from other map software?  Correcto? smile.gif

Yup, the only source for maps in MapThis is limited to Google/MSN Maps. Although you can create your custom maps by using JPEG/PNG format, it will be pain in the ass to intergrate the maps with the latitude and longitude of the GPS.

But, definitely it works. I've tried it before with Kuala Lumpur maps extracted from MSN Local Live.

Ninja  ... do you have any link to use GMDL to create map using custom map ... did find OZExplorer program that can create BMP/PNG file ... the program can grab map that was created for Symbian OS ... and lot of maps available at MalSingMaps in Symbian format ... but again ... how to put lon and lat of the map ...

Have you check the In7ane's GDML thread at deniska.dcemu.co.uk? But, I'm not sure whether they have something detail written about custom map creation. The biggest problem to create a custom map, is to match the lon and lat with the map. I'm still dunno how to do that. laugh.gif
