Is resale value something important to keep track on?
I find that it doesn't matter that much

Resell value is supply vs demand. When older generation with maintenance cost in mind no longer the major force in used car market, the trend will change.

The younger generation are after luxury they can show, brand, ambient light, big screen, tech. They also don't like trouble/hassle, as long as they can afford it they won't mind to pay extra for good service.

My prediction, soon cars with good RV will be those entry level continental like A class, 1 series, 2 series, GLA, X1 etc. The 90's are in their early 30's, 00's been working for few years. It is about time.

The common perceptions?

Parts are expensive and difficult to find. The i30's parts are fairly similar priced to genuine Civic or Corolla parts, if you've maintained one you'll know these aren't exactly cheap any longer. Service centres are definitely more expensive than a UMW-T service centre. OEM parts are available and like for like they're mostly around the same price too not because Korean parts have become cheaper but more along the lines that Japanese car parts are  no longer as cheap as they used to be. Parts difficult to find?? Perhaps that might have something to do with you living by a keyboard only??? Here's something for you to bite on, vast majority of Kias and Hyundais are sold with 3 years free servicing you do save quite a bit there.

Because lots of people are comparing genuine Korean parts VS 3rd party parts made for Japanese car or record parts or worst is recond third party parts.

And to make things complicated, the better quality third party parts is the OEM supplier of the car manufacturer, there are some which are not qualified to be on the approved vendor list.
The same 3rd party part's quality and price varies, people just look at the price.

There are also society bias where Korean/Continental car maker issue a recall = poor quality/reliability, and Japanese car maker issue a recall = good service/responsibility.
