Moto Z was the thinnest phone then but with extremely poor battery life. Need to buy the battery mod to extend it. Another RM 299.

Motorola will have a better battery life compared to the latest Galaxy phones because of the chipset. 778+G is a battery efficient processor while the latest Samsung phones use SD 8 Gen1 which is prone to overheating and power hungry.

cameras wise samsung a series still superior. given that a52s is still selling for premium 1 later, the early bird price here is probably the next best thing.

Samsung will definitely pack all the software goodies but I have to disagree with the cameras. The Edge 30's cameras (50MP main camera OIS + 50MP ultrawide) are flagship grade which is basically the same as the Edge 30 Pro.

Take note that the main 50MP camera is omni directional PDAF or in Samsung's marketing term - Dual Pixel AF. I have tested both and would say Motorola's implementation is faster. Basically no shutter lag unlike the s22. Image quality is another story though but what I'm saying is, the cameras on the A52s are subpar vs the Edge 30.

The LeMoto main cams (OmniVision and not Sony IMX sensors) will be a challenging task on low-light conditions. The OIS helps a bit but cannot be compared to other post-processing algorithm from other vendors...

Below is their "PRO" variant of the Edge 30 (with Snap 8.1) but the quality is not as expected compared to the Snap778 series...so, hypothetically, the non-PRO Edge 30 could be worse...

Perhaps, their future OTAs will improve the post-processing algorithm...

Motorola keeps on updating their algorithm via the Moto Camera Tuner app and would not require software update as it is directly being updated to the Play Store. I don't trust synthetic camera tests as I am more inclined to real-world scenario.

Btw, I just received my Edge 30 today. I haven't opened it but will definitely test out the image quality.

Buy for the 144Hz screen, bloat-free OS and lightweight body.... Not for the cam...but selfie is supposed to be above average hypothetically...the same goes for the modem and signal strength... should be as good as Who-R-We counterparts...

You can install Gcam on the Edge 30. If you have some knowledge with XML, you can tweak the color science and get the same quality as Google Pixel. I will install the Gcam version + config file from Edge 30 Pro and see if it works. The only downside I can see is the slower processing speed after taking a pic.

Hopefully stable and good night mode results...

Seems like a reasonable phone

Initial observations:
1. Phone is very thin and very light which is a plus for me. Why? Adding a bulky case will make it heavier (again). Heavier phone = more strain on your hand.

2. Display is bright and vivid but camera punch hole is slightly bigger than the Edge 30 Pro. Note that it may be bigger but the actual 32mp front camera sensor is smaller. I think this is deliberate to make it look less premium. (Just as how Samsung puts a silver outline surrounding the front camera of S20 FE/S21 FE).

3. Processor is snappy but definitely not as fast as SD Gen1 but it feels so fluid that you might think it has a flagship CPU.

4. Best-in-class 50MP main camera. It has a similar image quality like the Edge 30 Pro. Front camera is average. I think this is where Motorola cut costs.

5. Stereo speakers are damn loud! I am blown away by the speakers and didn't expect it to come from a phone. I'm not exaggerating. If loudness is what you need then this is it.

I still need a few days to test the battery life as well as take more sample pics side by side with the s22. Also another thing I need to do is install Gcam and see how stable it is.

Before I forget.
Digi VoLTE works on the Edge 30!!!

But not on the 30 Pro. What is this..

Bro, since you have the VoLTE working now, can you see if there is VoWiFi option enabled? It should be under the sim setting.

This is weird, edge 30 regular get volte while pro cannot

Don't blame Lenovo. It's Digi's fault. Why? Because Maxis and other telcos can use VoLTE on Edge 30 Pro. Carrier update should be done by telco and NOT Motorola. This has been discussed numerous times in Edge 30 Pro thread.

I tried my best to look for Wi-fi calling but can't find it in Settings. However, I can search for "wi-fi calling" but couldn't locate where it is 😅

VoLTE is a hardware built into your phone. Not really a good analogy but to make it simpler, it's like 5G. This phone, iPhones, S22 etc all are 5G phones but why don't we have 5G now? Simple. It's telco's job to build 5G network and make it available to your phone.

If VoLTE is not available on your phone, it means telco did not "detect" that your phone is VoLTE capable.

Above average efficiency...

Me expect LeMoto E30 to be at par with See-How-Me 11NE...

Hypothetically, deep sleep stand-by overnight 8-hour drain will always be LeMoto's trademark as the bloat-free OS does not hv "severe" pesky services running in the background like in the Sammy, See-How-Me and BBK devices...

Sony on the other hand has Grade A+++ battery cells...so, it's legit for the over-pricing...

Top and bottom have the same bezel size.
Side bezels are a bit thinner which is similar to the Edge 30 Pro.

This should be a good midrange device.
It also has 50MP main camera w/OIS. However, the main difference is it uses Samsung JN1 50MP. Note that this sensor is used as ultrawide camera in the Edge 30/Edge 30 Pro.
Anyway, Gcam is our best friend

My colleague owns one non ultra one and his boss owns one also
Both are bulky and when they put in pocket as a test when we are on break, can see visible huge bulge from the trousers

these 60hz/90hz/120hz rarely affects battery life UNLESS you game
For me, just use only la why limit so much when your phone can perform

This is the official Edge 30 promo video for the global market (not India). It's 1 minute long and they only advertised the "thinnest" part for 5 seconds out of the 1 minute video. Did you skip the rest of the video? 😆

I use ADB command to limit refresh rate to 90hz instead of 144hz.
You can see the difference between 60 and 90 but not much difference between 90 and 144hz.

So now, I also leave mine to auto refresh but max is 90hz only

Running ADB command is actually straightforward as you don't need to root. Just connect your phone to your laptop and run the script via CMD.

Yes, I've compared the battery life. If I use 60hz only, I would get roughly 8hrs SOT (of course depending on your usage).
Using 90hz I'll get roughly the same (maybe 20-30 mins less SOT).

This is better than if I use the default auto (144hz max) where I can only get 7hrs SOT tops.

6.5" a big difference compared to 6.9"

At least still can put in trousers and bulge wont be seen

Note:I own A52s and S20FE 5G

About thinness-es, i feel like all the phone thickness or thinness are much the same. When you hold it using your hand, I feel like not much differences also

Wondering what kind of screen protector you guys using.
Tempered glass will have white at the side ?

The thinner the phone, the harder to pick it up from flat surfaces.

Try to pick-up a credit card on flat table... not easy right....? Need to put thumb on the card and lift it using other fingers...

Me using the See-How-Me 11NE, which is the thinnest and lightest 5G phone in year 2021... need to use casing to ensure can pick-up from flat surface easily...

This is the major challenge for owning LeMoto devices... limited "high quality" accessories... plenty of generic OEMs for less than RM10...

If we can find well-known brand Tempered Glass like Nillkin, give it a try... the oleophobic coatings is important but the sensitivity of fingerprint sensor may be affected ....

Hydrogel screen protector is also good and fingerprint sensor-friendly but impact resistance is zero....

I personally like tempered glass over the hydrogel type for the feel of it.
But some curve screen make TG unusable unless u can tolerance with the white border

For this LeMoto E30, TG will be a hit or miss case... good TG will preserve the sensitivity of the under-display fingerprint sensor... if all fails, use naked or at least get a raised-lips casings...

Yes its bulging because of the slab size, not due to thickness. The previous post said N20u bulging in trousers because its too thick, that what i responded too.. and no, 6.5 vs 6.9 not too much different.. used iphone pro max (6.46”) and N20u (6.9”) at the same time. Felt the similar bulk in pockets or at palms

I sold my Edge 30 Pro for the Edge 30. Everything is basically the same from camera to speed (Motorola phones have always been about software optimization).

The only downside is definitely the build as the back is made out of matte plastic that feels like glass. What I prefer though is the phone is very light. My hands don't hurt after holding my phone for long periods.

Also I'm not exaggerating but the stereo speakers are EXTREMELY LOUD. This could be the loudest speaker I've heard from a phone. Louder than any other flagship Android or even the latest iPhones.
