It's my 3rd week using this phone and among all the things I like compared to the Edge 30 Pro is the lightweight body. You will really appreciate in the long run as it is really a comfort to hold.

I love light phone. But the 128 is stopping me. Just the WhatsApp and a few main apps and games probably will takes up half in a year's time.

1. Upload photos and videos to Google Photos, there is an option to remove the uploaded files from your phone. As for me, i uploaded my files to my local NAS.

2. I frequently factory reset my phone, maybe 2 or 3 times a year especially when there is a major update. Before doing this i will clear most of whatsapp messages and declutter it, then only performed the WhatsApp backup. This will reduce the size for backup and significantly reduce the restoration time.

Been living with 128gb phone for almost two years and it never exceeded 60% of storage usage.

Btw, if you insist for 256gb storage you can opt for mi 11 lite 5g ne which is lightweight phone too.

Actually, i was torn between mi 11 lite and edge 30. But then since I'm targeting for mi12t this sept or Oct, i took the chance to experience the edge 30.

Innocent question: why are you so scared when Android itself is considered secure? Your phone will only get compromised if

- you willingly install apk files (outside of Play Store) which could have a spyware. Take note: COULD HAVE. It doesn't mean that apk files have spyware.

- you root your phone and expose yourself to more issues.

Take note that Lenovo ThinkShield for Mobile is more secure than Samsung Knox. Why? Because once you unlock the bootloader and root your Moto phone, you can NEVER go back to unroot/stock ROM state. EVER.

I am not scared, just being cautious on the potential security compromise. Anyway it's not that I have many secret/data to be exposed. So no worries.

Also while still using the outdated Android 8 from my BB, I still getting regular updates from the playstore, although some of the Apps like SC banking doesn't support my device anymore.

Thanks for the comments but it definitely help me decide. Some may said it's only 1.5k but the real concern is I don't change phone very often, so I am feeling anxious to move on to new device.

Maybe I should just pull the trigger. Haha.

How ironic. You are telling me your main concern is security and you are using a very old version of Android which poses a lot of risk.

https://www.techradar.com/news/millions-at-...android-devices

"Regular updates" from Playstore is not the same as "security patches" from Google.

You are just updating the app version.
Security updates are more important as it is directly coming from Google.

The Edge 30 runs the April 2022 security patch.
I'm pretty sure your phone has a very outdated security version.
You are actually at risk of getting spyware by using your phone now.

Indeed. Very true.

Moving out from PKB has also been an unimaginable nightmare for me as a heavy email user too.

The regular updates from the apps itself on this oreo 8.1 that I am using actually hanging me indecisive too, knowing that maybe I can still hang on for a while.

The roadmap of BB is now finally dead 3 months ago. I guess it's time to move on. Every now and then people asking me holding a PKB phone with their raised eyebrows, I am getting lazier to explain.

I feel you being an avid supporter of a certain brand.
Before finally deciding to settle for Moto phones, I've been buying HTC devices but given their brand direction, I have to let go of my fanboy attitude and just move on.

I've tried several brands as well (Samsung, Google and even Apple). At the end of the day, I go with something that I know will have a long term support.

Lenovo is a huge company and they only have a few flagship/upper midrange devices to update compared to other Chinese OEMs. Of course I will not compare this to a Samsung phone because Samsung will always be Samsung. They invest more into smartphones than Lenovo do. But then again, Moto phones are cheaper so there's that.

It's not only avid, I became obsessed since RIM era. Out of everything I considered PKB as one of the main feature, mainly for my work purpose. Unfortunately the only PKB smartphone maker is Unihertz from kickstarter right now.

I don't play games. I don't do alot of chats. If Huawei still has GMS perhaps I will move in. For once I intended to move to Oneplus but their reputation has been deteriorated the past few years.
