Had engine knocking problem on my saga since I bought the car in December..... Changed the knock sensor but problem not solved...... 'tuned' the car, still same problem..... Now they said they will refer to proton..... Anyone experienced this previously? The refer to proton part, especially after the sc couldn't solve the problem?

Wat is your definition of engine knocking ?

You bought the car in Dec 2021 and Proton SC replaced the knock sensor for you or you got it replaced it outside ?

Should have asked Proton to replace the car if since day 1. Otherwise ask them to compensate time you and your car spent in workshop, but I'd go for whole replacement. Not worth visiting workshop all the time.

Best example of "Top up abit, Buy new car la, 500 years warranty or 500K KM warranty, peace of mind" huh whistling.gif
Pity TS, now have to suffer with new car problem and only god know who and how to solve the problem.

BTW Mysagavvt, we all cannot see the actual problem. When you say "Just like when the knock sensor is faulty" - Do u even know whats the function of knock sensor?
Its for the ECU tune the ignition timing constantly, even when you dont feel it. Rarely these things kaput one.

Misfiring can also cause that "knock" feeling, and even that also, the ECU will just tone down the ignition timing when the knock sensor detects it.
And BTW, stock car with stock ECU cannot be externally tuned or reprogrammed (refering to your first post "'tuned' the car, still same problem).

What PROTON (or even Perodua, for the record) techs should do, is plug in their OBD scanner and take it for a drive. Not plug in while engine idling only.

you sound like u know what you're talking about....... tuning the car was the bullshit they gave me..... i know that that ecu can't be "tuned" just with the things they have at the sc........ when the knock sensor is faulty, it won't detect the knock and the ecu won't compensate.... how to solve the problem? simple.... do long line testing to see if connectivity is good..... replace the ecu with another one to see if it's faulty.... their obd scanners are only as good as the technician who uses it..... they only know how to see if the readings are according to specs as published, and most of them are when the car is idling.... i do know a thing or two about cars too and i know they are bullshitting... like i said earlier.... u sound like u know what you're talking about.....

Engine knocking.. but tech replace knock sensor. If their obd scanner shows no knocking, then yeah they can suspect the knock sensor.

After change still got knock, so they 'tune' the car. Most probably just reset ecu. But still same problem but obd scanner did not pick it up.

Problems still there so they refer to proton.

Could be wiring issue or mechanical knock which out of the frequency range that can be detected by the knock sensor. Either way it seems bad

Don't think it's possible any car brand will replace your lemon unit. There are no lemon law in Malaysia hence they won't do it. You need to be persistent and get them to fix it. Advance diagnostics is one of the weakness of Proton known to everyone. I heard few tales of uncommon issues in gearbox, AC, engine that Proton is unable to resolve even after getting some expert from Japan to diagnose. Since you are getting a lawyer, good on you. Make them pay for all the inconveniences.

As for getting new car less headache dilemma. This is still true generally. Car failures still happen on new cars but they are less likely to occur and have warranty by manufacturer.

BTW, do document each of your visit to SC and what they done to diagnose the car. Would help in your argument later if you need to. Also post it here so that we can learn as well.
