sedan more practical because it has a proper boot space covered and separated away from passenger cabin, and also more comfortable than SUV due to lower height.
unless your area is prone to flood, then a slightly higher SUV (or pickup truck even better, more ground clearance) makes sense otherwise no point getting one. and most family-oriented SUVs are not that tough to begin with, your typical shiny bling bling CRV CX-5 are certainly not Toyota Fortuner.
another viable option would be MPV. not talking about Alphard Vellfire Serena kind of MPV but something like Exora, Sienta, Wish etc. they quite good to drive and perfect for family outing.
ps: compare apple to apple in terms of size and pricing, not Ativa vs. Bentley ok...
