Does this apply to Malaysia too?

Well the Canon 40D body only selling price during launching in China was RMB 8300 which is equal to RM 3790 only.
Some shop bargain at RMB 8000 --> RM2650.
So look at the SRP of 40D set by Canon Marketing Malalysia... You will know how much they have mark up. So even after the discount given, it only near to the pre-discounted price in China. That's the reason I don't encourage my friend buying Canon as well as Sony.
Nikon's selling price in Malaysia is more decent then Canon IMO.
No flamming, just share my finding. And I'm a Penatx user now

Then the above news is only good to the parallel importers.

Hmm.... this is very exciting as well as demoralising news. THe prices are dropping but all around us and not here......

as long as it comes la. currently everywhere 40D comes at around RM ~4.2k range (body alone). 10% discount would be damn helpful. leftover $$$ can use to get battery grip.

That's why I disagreed with my friend saying camera staff are cheaper in Malaysia due to low duty.
Just like our car dealer here, low import tax but mark up high high for big margin. DXXM it.

Yes, the import duty is low, but there's still excise duty (which is high) & sales tax too.

but in dun think la its apply here in malaysia..

vs Nikon alone, no need to discount 10% la. The rest simply no fight.
