Hi, I'm getting slower than 30mbps on speedtest over openVPN. I'm not sure if this is normal or is this a bottleneck of the Asus AC68U which is running the openVPN sever

openvpn is quite complicated, you have to tweak the server setting and client setting to match up the speed.
original setting might not give you the best performance. |

Try wireguard? Seems like the better option
Oh your router model probably not supported yet This post has been edited by alucard89: May 1 2022, 09:00 PM |

Also btw, for routers how high of a cpu usage(%) is too high for a router? 😅This post has been edited by yongtjunkit: May 1 2022, 10:18 PM |

Dump OpenVPN it's already showing its age with very high overheads and inefficiencies. |

Some tweaks and enhancements while maintaining all the router functions.Wondering if it makes a difference? Also can this be installed remotely(over the internet)? In order to install the WRT Merlin firmware you will need direct access to the router because you will be uploading the firmware file to the router. yongtjunkit liked this post

Some tweaks and enhancements while maintaining all the router functions. I see the was able to have remote web access to it(like on local network except it’s over the internet) and there’s an option to upload the firmware file, is that sufficient? Or do I need to physically do things like switch off the wall switch? In order to install the WRT Merlin firmware you will need direct access to the router because you will be uploading the firmware file to the router. Or do I need to physically do things like switch off the wall switch? You can try it via the remote web access. But it is recommended to directly connect the router to your laptop via LAN cable. Normally I do it this way. yongtjunkit liked this post
