Usually I just surf lowyat garage sales as anonymous, decided to open an account here to share my career experience till I read this, hope will help someone with medium-low (diploma to high school) qualification, since nowadays master, degree or diploma+ is normal. Also please don't expect my reply because I not really an online socialise person and do have family to busy with.
Most of my life friends know my salary range, they always question and say you are genius, is so rare that someone can earn this range at your age especially you just diploma holder.
But the truth is, I don't think I'm that good, I've met very few people who do better than me, about twice or more than my salary range or have a successful startup.
Small advice & facts:
1. IT industry is lucky, average salary have soared in recent years due to market need.
2. Cert is just an entry ticket, of course I would like to continue further study (to get better privilege entry ticket) if able to afford a that time, important is to keep learning no matter in what situation, invest time in good book.
3. Seek for better opportunity is good, but don't just measure it in money. My ratio (money:time 70:30), there an offer around 20k++ years ago, but decide not to go since the extra few thousand after tax doesn't really can change much on current life style & cant WFH.
4. Stay hungry stay foolish, in case you get lay off you won't be so worried for next job
5. Labour is cheap, please study hard
