Job Title: Staff Engineer, Mobile
Job Description: Working closely with product managers to implement new product features for Android app
Age: 29
Years spent in the company: 5 years
Company: Fintech
Industry: IT
Tenure: Full-time permanent
Employment Level: senior level
Experience before joining (years): 1 year
Highest paper qualification/ education background: Degree
Location: KL
Average Working Hours Per Week (incl lunch hours): 45

Monetary Payout
Basic Salary + Fixed Allowance: RM13,000. Allowance RM325
Contractual Bonus (months): <= 1 month
Performance, Variable Bonus & Commissions (months): Increment 3-5% per year (hearsay from my colleague). Guess I'm the outlier, increment every >= 30% based on performance

Work Flexibility (where relevant) :
Work From Home Availability: 3 days office 2 days home
Annual Leaves: 15 days
Flexi Working Hours: Yes, as long as you complete your job

Benefits (where relevant) :
Health Benefits: Clinic outpatients but I have forgotten how much. Probably >=RM500
Transport Benefits: Included in the fixed allowance. 250
Mobile / Internet / Gadget Benefits: They provide a laptop for you to work, and an RM75 fixed allowance
Other Benefits: - RM250 a year on dental
Future Prospects (personal outlook) :
Current salary against peers in the industry: Guess I'm average within my circle and industry. But definitely has more upside
Growth prospects: Already plateaued in my current company, both in position and skills set.
Where I will go from here: Thinking of jumping ship now. So there were 2 offers to me, but I'm still thinking about which can propel me to the next level for growth (gaining valuable skills and knowledge, not so much monetary although its added bonus).

So seeking all the sifu-sifu here, have any suggestions or advice for me? Thanks in advance! 🙏

Offer 1:
- Career Growth: Still can climb the corporate ladder, but it’s challenging due to being a large MNC. Can work across different technical stacks, but I need to ensure it doesn’t affect my existing responsibilities.
- Work Culture: More stringent SOPs and an older workforce.
- Offer: Basic RM12,000/month
            1-month annual wage supplement
            Bonus: ~2 months (assumed)
            EPF: 15% employer contribution
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in office at KLCC; may become 5 days/week).

[B]Offer 2
:
- Career Growth: Flat hierarchy; no corporate ladder. No promotion opportunities, just performance-based increments. No chance to work across different technical stacks because the company needs a senior backend to lead the team.
- Work Culture: Lax SOPs, younger and more energetic environment.
                       Offer: Basic RM14,000/month
                       Bonus: Maximum 1 month
                       EPF: 12% employer contribution
- Work Arrangement: Fully remote (office visits optional)

Why your offer is less than 10% increment than your current salary range? you need to better nego your salary or else they take advantage on you. Understand you prefer to career growth, but you need to take serious matter on your monetary value (based on your exp + skillset).

MY 20k nets me around 14k.
Condo was around 3.2k
Car was around 1.5k. (3 series second hand)
Other stuff comes in around 5-8k.
Every month i was saving 2-3k myr

SG 13.5k nets me around 12.5k (no cpf for ep holders)
Condo was 4.3k
No car, take mrt
Other expenses comes in at around 2k
Splurge on food comes in around 1k a month
I currently save about 3-5k a month (10-17k myr)

The only thing that really changes is that you gotta take the mrt.
Which i am ok with.

May I know since you work in Singapore as expatriate, do you manually perform adding your monthly salary percentage to your epf account? Do you also require to submit your income tax to LHDN every year?
