Dear all, as the title goes, is the 2019 Persona Premium (around RM42k +-, mileage less than 15000km) still worth to buy in 2022? Wanted to get a second hand but not too old car. Currently in dilemma as the new 2022 Persona Exec cost around 51k OTR. Would it be a better choice to get the new car rather than the used? (in my defense, getting used car is becaus depreciate also x sakit hati haha)

It's a 3-4 year old car, if you buy used. Didn't even depreciate 30% in value, so it's overpriced. Better buy new. You do the maths in detail - you will save more buying new (Full warranty, lower interest rates, brand new car, hassle free, etc.)

42k buy Vios god car dugong style better than Persona many times...put in some money for repair and maintenance, will serve you long time.

Persona spare parts no problem already ?

Then find another Persona with genuine mileage. If its used car dealer better careful of their fake mileage. Yes it's gonna be a tough one unless got service record.

You buy new.. Syiok the new car smell and can show off new car to your friends and family, but again you bite that depreciation bullet for years. And new car feeling is just temporary. Only 1 month to show off.

No wonder our country debt level is high. Because everyone encourage others to buy new.

agree.. planning to buy from carsome or mytukar, so the mileage should be fine i guess, the one that im looking at still has the warranty from proton until 2024..

the depreciation part is one of my concern also actually haha.. if buy new, once got out of showroom straight away depreciate.. but for the 2nd hand unit that im looking at, 42k for a 3yo car, my question is, for that price point, make sense to go for it rather than a brand new 2022 persona right? (which cost around 50k for exec version)

proton or perodua better buy new la. as majority previous owner drive like mad.

different not much oso if u calculate. yes, new car almost guarantee depreciate once come out from showroom. but u get zero wear and tear.

if u look ur surrounding, how many national car owner drive relax. majority I see always full throttle at traffic light and not slowdown when met speedbump.

That 15k mileage since bought from carsome/mytukar might be legit. but 42k for me still quite high. should depreciate more la. and 10k gap not much taking account new borrowing rate vs 2nd hand rate.

I see your posts always generalize local car owners as rempits.

You should really stop doing that.

For single driver Exec is more than enough. The dealbreaker for me was the airbag count as I bawak children in the rear seats. If that doesn't bother you, can just go with new Exec instead of used Premium.

Throughout my 30 years driving experience, national car driver among those who are very aggressive. reason why, maybe they are young and dumb. and another things is the car is cheap, so they might not scare to totaled their car.

And everyday see dashcam owner facebook, its justify. btw, to be fair, every manufacturer got driver drive like hantu, but rarely see merc/bmw drive like maniac. even entry level e200 century sprint can get 7.5 second. but rarely see they sprinting at traffic light and in town.

Better go for new.. the % depreciation of the used persona doesn't justify.. better go for new.. lower interest rate. Peace of mind with factory warranty.. end up you could save more actually..

Beware of used car dealer, most of them adjusted the mileage, repainted the car with super bad workmanship+ quality..

To verify whether is it genuine mileage.. check with proton on the car's condition for last service records.. get the car geran. Check previous owners name if he/she has any social media accounts, contact them to verify the cars condition..

"Peace of mind with factory warranty" Again warranty nonsense...how many times you yourself have claimed warranty throughout the warranty period? whistling.gif (Please dont lie)
Save more? LOL, looks like you didnt calculate the final payment at the end of your loan PLUS the depreciation from the car FROM NEW.

Not forgetting you Must service at SC to upkeep the warranty that owners freaking love. That's where they earn from you. Warranty ain't free.

No wonder our country is full of debts doh.gif

I think there are specific bad apples, but not all local cars la. For me, I would stereotype like this:
- Myvi king nuff said.
- 20+yo old cars, especially those with dents, rust and/or scratched surface. I guess some are even road tax lapsed so drive like mafakas. They don't care if accident cuz you can't claim them and theirs just besi buruk, your loss. Especially banyak Wira in this category, heroic drivers indeed.
- modded local car. The higher the spoiler, the higher their horsepower. Exhaust also racist sial go BROOM BROOM. Basically the ones who can't afford a better car but nak Gaya juga.

I drive relaxed la... But I guess you saw me at my awkward moments, sometimes I speed through the bumps cuz didn't see laugh.gif missing stripes ok!

Though, I'm legit surprised you don't see Benz or BMW drivers speeding or road bully. To my experience, it's like people buy the luxurious cars to earn the rights to be an asshole. Almost every BMW I see matches the Bad Mannered Wankers stereotype, on the contrary I'm pleasantly surprised whenever I see a normal BMW driver (i.e. signals, doesn't tailgate, no high beams, patient in general)

Anyways @topic, 2nd car market lately just feels kinda unsafe to me because of recent floods. Many sifus mentioned about ways to detect a potential flooded car, so I guess in general you'll be fine as long as you're equipped with the right knowledge and/or support to check the 2nd hand car's true conditions.

New persona better driving experience, currently driving persona 2019 exec. CVT need times to adapt but tried my GF's 2022 persona much better response, 16inch tyre and got eco mode etc. Only complaint is it use fabric seat and the HU angle is bad imo, also if exec they give u thai tyre if not mistaken.

Warranty also one issue, just claimed my side mirror warranty after waiting since last Nov 2021. Next gonna claim mounting warranty too, just waiting parts to sampai
