Thanks for your input but with the warranty provided, I believe we can still fix whatever issue if happens but question is after warranty ends and honda famous steering rack issue happens  sweat.gif
*
To me, claiming warranty is one issue, poor quality and rattling sound is another issue. In my experience sitting in various Honda vehicles ranging from Accord, Civic to City all previous models, I find the quality with respect to fit and finish to be dragged down mainly by the local assembly plant here. My business associates Accord, friend's Civic and City all show rattling sound inside the cabin even for fairly new vehicles less than 3 years old. I wouldn't expand on it too much here as I've repeated a lot on this on other threads. I have a low tolerance to rattling sound inside the cabin, either from the door panels or the dashboard or anywhere inside the car when the vehicle goes over some bad surface roads. This shows poor quality or assembly. Every Honda cars I sat in will show higher than usual rattling sound so in some way Honda cars are perennially scratched off the list even though the latest models may look good. To me, quality and design goes hand in hand. Although design is important, I can still accept the slightly outdated looks or interior, or the parking footbrake of the Corolla Cross for instance. However, I can't accept poor quality rattling sound inside the cabin even for new vehicles.

To be frank, my Proton Preve Turbo actually shows less rattling sound inside the cabin than the City, Civic and Accord.

Talking about wind noise from windscreens, are there any Corolla Cross GR Sport owners here who experience wind noise contributed by the window visors at the doors? If yes, at what speed will the wind noise be apparent?

I presume wind noise if prevalent will be more prominent for the Corolla Cross GR Sport since there are visors at the windscreens. For the standard Corolla Cross, I am guessing wind noise should not be an issue unless traveling at high speed unless it's a defect usually with the rubber lining around the windscreens.

How does the Corolla cross 2024 look like? I've checked the Internet and there's nothing. Checked Youtube and there are 2 versions of different looking Corolla Cross, not sure if it's from the American market or Asean Thai market. Nevertheless, one of the models look uglier than the current Cross GR sport we have here.

I would rather wish for the current Corolla Cross GR Sport front grille to be adopted as standard for the upcoming new 2024 models and add whatever improvements to the vehicle. The new electric parking brake replacing the foot brake of the current Corolla cross models would be one of the most useful or important changes if the news is true. I'm not too critical on the other changes. As we all know, the more they give the higher the price will be.

Report: Toyota Corolla Cross facelift to debut in ASEAN Q1 2024

The Corolla Cross has been serving Toyota well since its introduction back in 2020. Not only has it been a hit here, but it has also found success in other parts of the world. Three years in, the popular crossover has received a few updates, namely in the Japanese and US markets.

But a report from Thailand suggests the Toyota Corolla Cross for Southeast Asian countries might get a facelift as well. According to Thai publication Headlightmag, that model might make its regional debut by the first quarter of 2024.

It’s still quite far away but ASEAN-spec Corolla Cross is due for an update nonetheless. Per Headlightmag’s report, there is a strong possibility that the ASEAN-spec model could get the same updates and upgrades from the North American and Japanese versions. If that’s the case, we could see a dramatically different front-end design for the crossover.

Other updates to expect? Based on the US and Japanese versions, there will be a few interior revisions. First is the digital instrument cluster with a higher resolution display. The second is the removal of the mechanical foot-operated parking brake. Foreign market models now get an electronic parking brake.

two of the most important upgrade  laugh.gif

From the looks of it, approved! Nevertheless, it appears that these 2 upgrades (revised front bonnet and electronic parking brake) are the "major" change?

After I test drove the Corolla Cross hybrid, Cross non-hybrid and Corolla sedan with the intention of purchase, I felt that the 1.8 litre engine although adequate for normal use is the Achille's heel of the vehicle, in my opinion. Initially I tried the Cross in city roads at low to moderate speeds and felt that the acceleration power was fine. I then tested the Corolla sedan at another Toyota showroom thinking it will show a more powerful acceleration than the Cross but shockingly found the opposite to be true. The test drive route is different as it's on a clear highway on Sunday so I managed to do quick pedal to metal sprint unlike the Cross where it's city roads packed with vehicles mostly crawling at low speeds. The Corolla sedan felt underpowered to me with lethargic acceleration. Perhaps it's the CVT or something else giving the feeling of slow acceleration I'm not sure but I was unconvinced after testing the sedan so I reassessed my priorities.

Believe it or not or you may laugh all you want but I actually feel the Nissan Almera 1.0 turbo to be more responsive with better burst of power at low to mid end speed, and I eventually settled with one after the Kuro black version was recently launched. However, I will still need to get another vehicle sometime next year and apart from this new and fresh Corolla Cross, there is no other alternative in the price range of RM100k to 140k that interest me.

It's unfortunate (or perhaps a blessing depending on how people would interpret the situation) that the Corolla Cross and sedan are not given a more powerful engine, say 1.5 turbo or something along those lines. If NA minimum 2.0 for a satisfactory performance. Anyway it all depends on the expectations of the individual. For people who are upgrading from a less powerful car the 1.8 would be satisfactory but people who have been exposed to more powerful cars may find the 1.8 underpowered.

Nice exterior, don't need to hide.

Edit : after watching the vehicle on YouTube, I changed my mind. It doesn't look too good.

Agreed with your finding of the 1.8 engine, that's what I feel when test drove Corolla Altis 1.8, almost bought it but after driving feel uninspiring when pedal more, it's like stubborn to get up...
Then test drove the previous gen 2.0 used car, wow the torque was responsive when ask for it, doesn't have that kind of stubborn feel, the rest is history.
*
Yes, your description is exactly the same as my thoughts after I tested the Corolla sedan GR Sport 1.8.

I've gone to YouTube to look at the new Corolla Cross 2024 and changed my mind. It actually doesn't look too good. The current GR Sport version of the Cross looks best to me.

The EPB allows Low Speed Follow ADAS to be activated. That is an important add-on in my opinion. Just adding the EPB, you get another important ADAS feature.
*
I see. I'm not too familiar with the ADAS. The electronic parking brake in the new upcoming Corolla Cross is surely a welcome feature for many.

After watching few more YouTube videos of the new Corolla Cross launched in Thailand, I noticed that the GR Sport version is also available, and fortunately the front bonnet piece looks almost the same as the current Corolla Cross GR Sport that we have here. The Corolla Cross is still a good option in the SUV market as the Harrier 2.0 although looks like a dream is too costly.

Upcoming new Corolla Cross GR Sport version. Fortunately it doesn't have the alien-looking holes of the regular versions which look like an unfinished front grille design.

this looks quite similar to our malaysian market TCC GR Sport version. only updated the LED headlamp design for the front end changes perhaps?
*
Yes, the front grille looks almost the same as the current Corolla Cross GR Sport version we currently have here. I'm not too sure about the Led headlamp design though but the overall shape and design of the vehicle look the same to me.

actually if they keep GR version front grille and upgrade all the rest rest of facelift feature in. It will have a better rugged looks.
*
Yes. I've said it before, Toyota might be better off incorporating the GR Sport front grille to all the models as standard since it looks most elegant and nice. Perhaps it's a tactic for them to lure more selective or critical buyers to the GR sport version as majority of people won't care about the less-than-appealing looks and will just settle with the cheapest versions of the Corolla Cross.

Too bad the Corolla version we are getting here is the 1.8 litre model. If I'm not mistaken, the Corolla Cross sold in Singapore is the 2.0 litre version with Dynamic Force engine in both petrol and hybrid.

Don't compare to SG because most of the brands models not follow ASEAN spec. If really want, go buy from there.  tongue.gif
*
I'm not too sure about Asean spec but a Corolla Cross in 2.0 litre will be much more desirable than a 1.8. I hope a miracle will happen in that the next upcoming Corolla Cross here in Malaysia will get the 2.0 litre engine? 😜

Almost all SG cars are CBU from their origin country. For Toyota its from Japan mostly that's why they get 2.0 DF engine
*
I see, that may partly explain on the high prices of vehicles over there in Singapore. It is unfortunate that the Asean spec model is a 1.8 litre instead of 2.0 original from Japan. I wonder the reasons on the downsize of the engine capacity for the Asean spec, perhaps to cut down cost or something else.

Actually if u dont really need the rear space and value drivability, the CX30 is a better buy than the Cross in terms of value. Simple 2.0 NA engine to maintain, 6 speed auto instead of CVT
*
I've looked at all the options already 😁 The CX30 ckd is too small especially at the rear space and to me lose out in terms of practically. Apart from space, looking at reliability as well and the Corolla Cross ticks most of the boxes apart from the slightly underpowered engine for this class when most competitors in the same segment offer more powerful engine options. The CX5 is more practical in terms of rear legroom and space but price-wise loses out.

Well gotta give and take...

The 2.0 High spec CX5 is actually similarly priced to the full spec CX30. But if your budget limit is just around 140k+ then yeah its over the budget
*
yes gotta give and take. Nothing is absolute perfect so one will need to accept some features you don't like and some you like. I actually prefer the overall design of the Corolla Cross GR Sport too. The CX30 large black coloured cladding all-round the bottom of the vehicle ruined the looks a bit to me. The Mazda 3 looks better and classier than the CX30 to me. SUV or sedan both are no issue to me as both are acceptable.

Yes, would like to keep the price down to about RM140k although could stretch higher as don't want to lose so much with a depreciating asset. The higher the price of the vehicle, the bigger the hit when it comes the time to sell it.

The cars from country of origin actually not pricey, the high total cost of ownership in Sgp is due to COE, no?

Also, if want Japan spec, wait for refurbished JDM TCC?
*
Yes, mostly COE. Will need to compromise although full Japanese spec is more desirable than current CKD version of the Corolla Cross. Japanese spec is not new but refurbished so it's different.

Went to a Toyota showroom last week. The new Cross won't come this year as there's only 1 launch left for this year which is the Yaris Cross that is around April/May. Also looking for a car maximum price around 140K to replace a HRV.
*
Useful to know that the new Corolla Cross will only be launched next year in 2025.

After looking at all the SUV in the market both petrol and electric models, the Corolla Cross is still one of the best (most practical and safest) options for me even with all its shortcomings. Last week spotted a red coloured Corolla Cross GR Sport on the roads and it looks strikingly beautiful.

Test drove the hybrid version this morning. Is it just me or anyone here thinks either the engine or CVT is a bit loud during highway cruising? The humming of the inverter during start-up is a bit annoying to be honest. The SA said the petrol version is a lot more smoother and responsive compared to to the hybrid version.
*
I posted this few pages back when I test drove both Corolla Cross hybrid and petrol versions sometime last year. Short test drive, spending about 10 minutes for each vehicle. To me, it's only the engine sound in the hybrid that's loud and weird when compared to petrol version during hard acceleration. The sound of the engine (or CVT I'm not sure) in the hybrid has a different tone in comparison to the petrol. It's a high pitch kind of squealing whereas with the petrol version it's the normal growling sound from the engine as with any vehicles with NA engines.

Acceleration with petrol version feels more powerful than the hybrid which feels more lethargic in comparison during hard acceleration, with the hybrid introducing a louder and different tone sound when compared to quieter and normal engine sound with NA version. In summary, if you drive normally and want fuel saving, get the hybrid. If you want a more powerful acceleration and occasionally drive faster or love speed, or you want quieter engine sound, the petrol version will be more suitable than the hybrid.
