He is from rich family, but he never settle down and press ahead with new business when he could choose to chill and stay with family biz. Compared to those Tan and Yeoh families kids, none step out of comfort zone and did and succeed as much as he does.

Yes, Grab treats vendors and riders unfairly some may say. But end of the day, they exist becuz of demand. We are still paying for it and using Grab while we have other options like FoodPanda, ShopeeFood, Fat boy's rubbish Airasia food etc.

I think he built something very unique and definitely solved a big transportation problem.
However he lacks the prowess and ability to express the dreams to his investor, like Elon Musk.
His endeavour into the stock exchange was made seemingly out of desperation without much thought into the public perception.

My 2 cents,
The rich have the privilege to travel and explore beyond Msia, and brought in wealth of experience and knowledge. That being said, i must applaud them for willing to try something new, something unproven and definitely something risky as it involves extravagant CAPEX with unknown ROE.

It takes someone with wisdom, experience and knowledge to put a vision into reality.

The poor don't have this, and the middle income can only dream and risk it at certain level until they meet inevitable problem such as cashflow, connections, and reactive laws and regulation that restricts creativity.





Long story short, he make use of what he have and made it to the top. Same cannot be said for other rich kids whom play it safe.

he is a smart guy, even if he was born with a silver spoon he created his own legacy.

He basically kick started the gig economy with Grab car, then when lockdown came, he pivot to Grabfood, Grabmart etc to provide a living to those who caught by the pandemic and also connecting businesses with more business. You can call him an opportunist but so many job opportunities were created not only in Malaysia but all around SEA. I am not a fan of Grab because I think one shouldn't be lazy to cook or to go out and buy but it does has its one target market.

Credit has to be given to him for what he has done, and born rich has shouldn't be the equation here. So many other 36542654125347 ppl are born rich as well but do you see them doing something or just waiting to take over the father's business and become CEO.
