Hello everyone!! icon_rolleyes.gif

My family and I are victims of the recent flood. My brother and I were stuck on the upper floor of our house for 2 days without food, water, and our phone battery died. I've learned my lesson and I have the emergency kit on the upper floor now.

However, I'm also thinking of investing in backup power not only for the flood situation; since my company announced a FOREVER work from home - I think it's a good investment.

Some of my friends said that Schneider Electric UPS is the best option. I would like to hear from the users and experts. Please share your experience and comments on the Schneider Electric UPS. Is it worth buying? unsure.gif unsure.gif

UPS is good, for charging phone, but if want to use for laptop or other devices, probably it will be flat in 1-2 hrs, unless you buy industrial type.

UPS only for short term power like 15-30mins for laptops or almost 1-2 hours for phones and tablets.

What u need is a solar generator with UPS functionality like the Ecoflow Delta. When the power is on, u just plug in into the wall outlet and output to various power gang strips.

During a power failure, the unit will kick in and supply enough power for a few hours. U can also opt for the solar panel add-on to charge the unit during a power failure.

Check Lazada or Shopee. It is selling there.

Understand, industrial types must be costly, right?

Cheap UPS used those shitty alarm 12V batteries. Good for 15-30mins only. Reason because the lead acid battery not suitable for high load devices like desktop or laptops. Only good to save whatever work and shutdown.

I am using an APC 2000VA UPS for my 5 Synology servers. Good for 30-35 mins only. Which is enough to properly shutdown everything.

At the same time, it also protects the servers from spikes or sudden power overload.

Power bank used LiPo or LiOn batteries la. Good for high load devices. UPS mostly using lead acid batteries. Good for slow charging and suitable for shutdown only.

In a data centre also using UPS but the batteries occupied an entire 200 sq ft room to last 12 hours. After that, the genset will kick in for next 24 hours.

I've once been to a house where this guy uses solar in the morning, and uses a big ass generator at night (a bit noisy tho).

When i spoken to the owner, basically his house is pretty secluded (built on his own land) and he has problem getting TNB in or sthg so he resorted to that.

My plan is to keep it on the upper floor to save it from flood and also my workroom is there.

I thought if flood, means water everywhere, still safe to use plug?? Or u plug your appliance directly to the generator instead of to the wall plug?
