Nowadays many play to earn game come out. Is it scam or really can earn money by play that game?

If it is too good to be true, probably scam...

Or maybe just another data mining scheme..

I'm currently playing Gods Unchained, a play to earn card game.

So far I've earned about RM200 worth of ETH and GODS (their ingame currency). The only catch is, these are on Layer 2 - they're relatively free to trade etc within its own Layer 2.

But to cash out, that's when the ETH massive gas fee will come in. So It will only be worth to cash out if you're over RM1k++.

Yes because there are such game exist , you earn their in-game token which can be trade and sold in some big exchange
Example SLP (Smooth Love Potion) & AXS (Axie Infinity) is the token use in a Game "Axie Infinity" can be trade in Binance (Exchange) ,When you think of start of game , go and read their whitepaper or any technical document published , they will mention how they maintain their in-game economy and keep the game alive for years , most importantly is their road map and their next steps , what have being achieve so far.
To start such games , most required to have some initial investment ,then only you are able to earn their in-game token.
Recently there are some games which emphasize "Free to play & Play to earn" , this type of game is similar to the above but with 0 cost to start , means they will give you some basic stuff to start (Free to play) , then u can buy some thing more powerful (Investment) as u go along the way. This type of game are mostly more games oriented and less investment oriented.



No because their will be 100% some bad eggs around , they will create some easy and silly games to lure ppl to invest into their investment pool (Reading their whitepaper is very important) , once they think the pool is big enough , they will take everything and run away, this case there are many example around ,just google it.

I dont think it's a scam or anything. When it become famous, there will be interest which would try to put a value to the game. Besides as with any game, there will be players buying their way to the top of the leader boards.

The in-game currency GODS uses ERC-20, and is currently valued at around 1 GODS = 4.39 MYR.

Yes, we can convert it to real life money. You just need to bring it out of Layer 2 ecosystem (which has a gas fee).

Then I would trade it to XRP, bring it to my Luno account, then convert it to RM, and bank in to my CIMB account.

I've only played the game on weekends, and usually about 2-3 hours for about 3 months now to earn that RM200. You can potentially earn more if you know how to trade in the marketplace. But for me, RM200 is pretty fair, given that I did not spent a sen starting this game.

There plenty free to play one , no capital needed . Some even give u crypto to pay for gas fee lol . Got 1 game before the dip each month can make around 30-50bucks USD( now drop till 10+ USD , still better then brave ) just need to spend 5min each day je. Basically it's a card game, where you need to collect and build a deck, then fight against other players. During weekend events, you can earn points by playing and winning certain number of games. The more wins, the more tokens you'll get, plus card packs (where you can get more cards). This is where you earn the money.

So you don't need to play all the time. You just need to win on weekends.

Simple answer yes you can earn money but don’t expect to earn much. You electricity bill would probably cost more than what you earn.

IIRC if you are an early player of Gods Unchained, there was a token airdrop worth >$30k.

In any case, plenty of opportunities in the crypto world as capital was really abundant and was spilling everywhere (not anymore though I think lol).

Very hard to win? Need very good deck? Got a lot of power players? I got MTG and hearthstone experience and I can tell you people who is motivated to win is very hungry.

Not very hard to win. The matchmaking has tiers. So if you're on the lower end, you'll generally fight people with more or less the same luck as you are. Unlike MTGO, where they really randomize the match, so you might end up going up against some beastly decks, unless you're playing limited sealed deck where the deck pool is random.

Gods Unchained is very similar to MTG in terms of gameplay and mechanics. If you've got MTG experience, this game will feel right at home. Instead of 5 magic colors, GU has 6 gods, where they play quite differently from each other. But unlike MTG where you can literally build any combination of colours, GU can only focus on specific style of a god you chose. Each play style has advantages and disadvantages against another god style.

And this limitation is what increases your chance of winning, because even some guy might have the expensive deck from 1 god, you can still beat him if your cheap deck happens to be a direct counter against his.

So yeah, not very hard to win in order to gain rewards.

What about the conversion account? From their currency to your bank ..... need a 3rd party convert? How many % they take? What bank in malaysia also can? Need to report LHDN? like if I don't take the money until I stack 10k usd and wanna transfer them one shot etc....... sry for the long question.

1. Conversion is a bit long. First, you need to take it out of layer 2 (or level 2) which has a gas fee of up to 40USD. Currently the gas fee is lower, but I haven't checked. But after that, you can convert it to whatever crypto currency you want on the Exchange. I use KuCoin app for this to convert whatever crypto into XRP. There's no fee, it's just conversion rates that you have to deal with.

2. Then I would withdraw the XRP from the app to my Luno wallet. Luno has a direct link to major Msian banks such as Maybank and CIMB. So using Luno, I would convert XRP into RM, then transfer to my own bank.

3. Yes, you need to report all your income to LHDN. But I haven't checked if we need to declare our crypto to LHDN yet. So far from what I understand, if you didn't take the money into your local bank, you're not earning anything yet. Which is why most people just leave their money in crypto and leave it there.

I'm failing to see the monetization of play to earn game. Unless when gaming you spend your CPU power and GPU power to mine crypto or something. Money you "earn" in game is not real cash until you convert it. From how I see it you don't earn anything of value rather than wasting your time and effort. You don't even develop a single skill.

Earn to play and play to earn are 2 different thing. The former is U earn money then can play; sounds like a normal working adult lmao.

might be legit for player newly started to play the game, until the game started to ask the player to pump in some money into their account for more earning.
